Bayahibe E-Bike Tour

Description

This was an excellent tour. We got to see the areas outside of where we were staying such as Bayahibe, the national park and caves. The bikes were easy to use and our guide Wilkin was just wonderful and so helpful. We are in our upper 50s and were able to do this with no problems even on some rocky terrain.
I would give this E bike mountain bike adventure, a five out of five for adventure, but a four out of five because it’s kind of difficult. We are a pretty strong pair of 65 year-old people and this is about a 5 mile bicycle over packed sand at first then the last 1.5 miles over sand and rutted washboard trail- the kind where it’s super bumpy. Factor in the sun heat and the humidity and it gets tiring quickly even if you’re fit. At the end of the 5 miles you descend a steep flight of primitive stone steps into a cenote in a national park. Water was fantastic after all that heat! I went in with my bike gear but would love to have brought swim suit under clothes and a small towel. Our guide was good and there were two of them- one to guide the other follows in a 4Runner that we took a ride in to go home. Other things to know: 1. Take a taxi from cruise ship. It cost us $60 r/t plus $10 tip. 2. They’ll give u chilled water but bring a little energy gu to get energy back after 5 miles. 3. Sunscreen!
Enjoyable e-bike ride on local trails near Bayahibe including trail into Parque del Este where we stopped at the Chicho II Cave where we hiked down some rocky stairs to the spring water inside the cave. The cave was pretty dark but was illuminated later when a scuba-diving tour arrived and the group utilized immersible flashlights. With the light, it became possible to view the stalactites and stalagmites and appreciate the unique beauty of the setting. The guide, Alberto, provided interesting background and responded to questions. He was safety-conscious and provided alerts to potential hazards on the gravel/rocky and sometimes sanding trails. The tour was relatively short (about two hours) but enjoyable in that it provided an opportunity to get off of the beaten paths. The bike I rode was in good operating condition. Recommendation: Take a flashlight to enjoy the cave.
We had a great time! Our 12 year old especially loved it. We biked through various scenic terrain and enjoyed a little cave. Wear your swimsuit and bring a towel if you plan to swim (there are no changing areas) but you’ll probably have the cave to yourself.
I wish I could give zero stars to this tour operator (Culebike Adventure). Booked and paid this tour in advance, the day before we were contacted to ask to move from 9 am to 1 pm the same day, even if we were not happy because of the heat , we moved things around accepted the time change. After couple of hours they contacted us and told the tour was not available and to change the date, we had already all our days planned and couldn't change only because they are unprofessional! They cancelled and we were left with no tour and no time to book something else so last minute. But the tour was still available online so they kept accepting reservation for the same day, once again unprofessional! Choose another company so you don't risk to be left with no tour last minute. I won't recommend this tour to anyone and make sure to warn as many people as possible.
This tour is one of the best in the Dominican Republic. We had so much fun and great experiences! We had a wonderful guide and driver, who showed us how to ride an electric bike and took us to the most beautiful places in Bayahibe. We saw how almonds, mangoes, guavas, and avocados grow. The guide was always there to take care of us. We also visited a beautiful cave with a lake and took a swim. The water was cool and clean. We highly recommend this tour to everyone. Don't miss the chance to explore the town, visit the national park and the cave. It was a true fairy tale...
My husband and I booked this tour while staying in Bayahibe, we are mountain bikers and this excursion peaked our interest. Let me tell you it did not disappoint!! One of our best experiences during our stay. It ended up being only my husband and I on the tour so it felt very personalized and we were thankful they still went with such a small group. The ride through Bayahibe and all the way to the cave was absolutely amazing. The guide was so fun and patient letting us swim the cave as long as we wanted. Keep in mind there is no place to change into your swimsuit so wear one underneath. We wore athletic shoes for the bike/hike and packed water shoes in our bag to change into for the cave. They provided water and even bananas for us when we got back in the van. Unforgettable experience. Highly recommend!!!
We enjoyed our time exploring on the e-bikes. 2.5 hours was perfect amount of time. The pick up and drop off at our hotel was easy. Communication was good Our tour guide was friendly but I would have loved to learn more about nature and culture. They provided cold water which was lovely. He took a few photos of us throughout the ride. One issues is the tour company needed to switch day of our ride. Be aware of time or date changing when you book. I recommend AM time because afternoon would probably be hot. The morning time was perfect! There is no place to change into swimsuit for the cave swimming. I wish I knew this and would have worn my suit. Overall the cave swimming was my husbands highlight of the trip!
The guide was friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. We saw a beach, but only briefly paused did not go in. My bike had a bent front rim which made steering difficult, others had other difficulties. There is about a mile walk to the cave, which has a long set of stairs to get down to the water. The cave is unlit, the guide will have flashlights to navigate the stairs. Wear regular shoes prior to the cave as the hike is over coral and is rough on the feet. The trail in the national park has puddles in the rainy season, so be prepared to get spattered with muddy water.
Hola, lamentamos los inconvenientes. Vamos a corregir los detalles inmediatamente.
Great ride through Bayahibe and along to beach. The trip into park amazing along to cenotes which are incredible and beautiful. Guide really friendly and knowledgeable. No rush and very safe.
