Description

Our few days in KL

We've spent the last two days with Tour51 with our guide and driver Major Ton. He was a great character and his experience and local knowledge of Kuala Lumpur, surrounding regions and local customs was simply fantastic. Strong highlights for us were the Petronas twin towers, visiting the Batik manufacturing factory, National museum, War memorial and the Royal Selengor Pewter factory tour. We fully recommend this company who were a complete pleasure to use during our visit. Awesome.

272 steps and counting

Walked up the 272 steps to the golden statue of Lord Murugan. Little monkeys playing around on the steps. Beautiful and spiritual inside. Well worth the steps. Take plenty of water. Amazing views.

Batu Caves: An extraordinary experience

I was impressed with the size and beauty of the statue that impose its serene and majestic aura. The monastic blessing is a necessary step on your preparation to climb the steps that leads to the cave. Amidst people and all sorts of monkey personalities the climbing experience will be a beautiful memory to cherish for the rest of your life. It is definitely a site to visit in Kuala Lumpur.

Waste of time

Where do I start. We booked for the morning pickup and waited outside our hotel from 8:30 to 9:45 when I eventually called them to find out what was happening. They then said the driver was there to collect us but we weren't waiting so they left. NO DRIVER OR GUIDE EVER ARRIVED! Then we got moved to the afternoon tour which was ok...underwhelming to say the least. First stop the Pewter factory (not a bad stop but just a ploy to try sell you something). Then you go to some little warehouse where they show you how to fold a scarf... this part of the tour is absolutely pointless... Then we finally get to what is meant to be the highlight of the tour and everything at BATU caves is under tarpaulin being renovated so you walk up the steps look in the cave and thats it. All shrines and temples are covered up so its not even photo worthy... rather pay a GRAB driver to take you and drop you off. You will save time and money>

Dear Bradley P, Thank you for your time and reviewing our product. We appreciate our clients' feedback as it is our guideline to improve our services' quality, we have highlighted your feedback to our product team and asked them to review the Batu Cave Tour itinerary, However please take note that majority of our clients is happy and satisfied with the tour, you may see some of their reviews on Tripadvisor as well. As for the pickup, we checked and confirm that the driver came to your hotel on time, but they could not locate you in the lobby area, as per hotel's report, they tried to contact you, but you were not in the room. From your review we learned that you waited outside the hotel. We also note that our operation team re-arranged the tour for the afternoon session as a gesture of goodwill. Once again we thank you for your review, we hope to welcoming you to Malaysia very soon.

Presently beautiful construction site

The caves, the statue, the stairs and all the decorations are very beautiful and worthwhile. Unfortunately, it is currently a large construction site. Everywhere there is work, scaffolding and buildings are half covered with tarps. It would be much better if they were renovating corner by corner and not working everywhere at the same time. There are a number of stalls in the caves. You notice that they are commercial since the entrance to the cave is free, they have to get their income from somewhere else. Tip: ladies must have their shoulders covered and pants/skirts that fall below the knees.

It's cheap, after all.

We went on a half day tour of Batu Caves, Batik and Pewter Factory in 3 1/2 hours. It's a tour of tourist companies that have the same course but the price varies from $10 to $100, but I was worried about joining here which is cheap. However, I am glad that they were tidy, such as email contact and changing the date and time in case of flight delay. As it was cheap, the pickup was a big tour like going around each hotel by large bus, there was no local accompanying guide, and when I arrived I looked around on my own, but I was able to see three places without any problems. Traveling around the three places on my own takes time and costs a taxi or train each time, but it was cheap and enjoyable enough to think that we all chartered a large bus.

Nice trip.

Well organize tour when we got us on the bus to the caves. The bus that was to pick us up and take us to the meeting place messed up and we were sitting to wait a good while. English speaking guide who told a lot along the way. First stop was royal selangor where the guide was very good in English and showed us around at the factory and told about the tin production start and history. Very interesting and well set up. The next stop was batik factory and production of batik on silk and other fabrics. It's okay to get a glimpse of this. The highlight of the tour was Batu caves here we got 50min. Remember that the knees must be covered, it is possible to rent a skirt, otherwise it will cost nothing. There is a 272 steps to the top, the staircase is quite steep, but small plateaux to take a rest along the way. Many monkeys want food so I recommend saving the food/fruit for afterwards. The beginning of the Hindu god Murugan is 42 meters high and very great. The tour does not provide time for visiting several caves, this is desirable one must choose another tour or take the tour on their own. Alke is set off at the hotel on the way back. We chose the morning trip because of the heat.

Caves were a great experience!

Caves were a great experience and must see when visiting KL. There's 272 steps to get to the top. Make sure you wear something that covers your knees or you can also borrow a cover for 5 RM and then you get 2 RM back when you return it. Once you get to the top, there's a temple. A lot of monkeys on the way. Since this is a group tour, you'll have to have a lot of patience. We rode in a coach bus with a lot of people. There were two stops before the caves. One was the Pewter factory. That was interesting to walk through and the other was a fabric factory. That one I can skip. The reason why you'll have to have patience is because there will be people who take a little more time at each stop. If you're not interested, you'll still have to wait. We were hoping to make it back in time for another toured we had scheduled but we ended up being late because there's a lot of sitting around waiting. We only spent about 45 minutes at the caves which was supposed to be the highlight of the tour. No fault to our guide since he was just doing his job and taking us where he was supposed to. If you really want to spend time at the cave and not have to waste your time waiting around, I suggest you take a taxi. Caves are free.
