Better than we ever expected

I really didn’t know what to expect but just chose this tour based on the reviews. It surpassed all of my expectations. Mario picked up my family of four at the port and took us to west end. We got on their boat and had an amazing snorkeling trip. Just us. We followed up with a dinner at a local restaurant and a tour of a chocolate factory. We got back to the ship with plenty of time to spare. Mario was an amazing guide. Better than any of the ship excursions.

Mario and Valentin were...

Mario and Valentin were great guides. We took the whole family with swimmers of different skill levels and everyone was able to have a great time. Both guides were very knowledgeable and made sure to watch over everyone.

Snorkel Trip

We booked this trip outside of the sponsored excursions from Royal Caribbean when we were there on Cruise outing. The initial experience was daunting due to the amount of people outside the gate at the port, but finding our excursion guide was easy. We took a walk to a car where we took a ride to the West End where we went to a chocolate factory to watch chocolate being made from Honduras chocolate beans. We then went across the street to the coast where we boarded a boat and went to three different snorkeling spots. They were all absolutely beautiful. We saw many different species of fish, rays, turtles, and beautiful reefs. We finished our day by going to a restaurant before returning back to the port. It was a very unique experience that we would definitely do again. Thank you Rovan and Danny.

Great snorkeling excursion that gets better from beginning to end!

Every minute we spent with Mario and Amy only got better and better! (Watch for Amy's bright peachy-orange shirt when you look for them at the port). The 3 snorkeling sites are what you need to try to do while you are in Roatan, as it it the home of the second biggest reef on the planet. Mario took me to his many favorite spots on the each part of the reef. My hubby chose to snorkel closer to the boat with Amy. Next time we go with them, I will message them in advance and ask for a full facial snorkel mask for him. Because Mario shares my enthusiam, he helped me swim faster to cover more of the reef and he also taught me to improve my novice deeper dives under the water. His geniune love for this sport is contagious. They will offer to show you some shopping spots, but as we are not shoppers, we chose to spend more time snorkeling and go back to ship at the end. I cannot wait to see the go-pro video they are sending me of the last stop and it should arrive to my email very soon. You will feel their enthusiam and love for their island.

Exceptional Snorkeling experience in West End

Let me start by saying Dani did an exceptional job communicating prior to the tour. His company and the guides are outstanding and very professional. I got of the cruise ship and to the meeting point early and saw Mario with the RTGA sign. He wasn’t my guide as I was early but communicated to Dani and I was picked up for my tour earlier than even expected. It’s a short beautiful drive to west end and we were at the boat in 10-15 minutes. I went solo and there was one other couple on the boat and each group had its own snorkeling guide. They strive for an amazing guest experience coupled with safety. My guide was Amy and she was amazing. The ride from shore to the snorkeling spots is an easy 10 minute jaunt. Amazing reefs and corals such a short distance from shore. After a safety briefing and an assessment of our comfort levels we were given our gear and in the water. First spot was turtle crossing and it didn’t disappoint saw a green sea turtle shortly after entering the water and basically followed that for an amazing journey of discovery with a multitude of fish and coral. The next stop was blue channel and the reef and channel didn’t disappoint as we soon were following an eagle ray throughout the channel along coral walls. More beautiful fish than you could count along with barracuda. The last stop was the aquarium and you couldn’t come up with a more appropriate name. The threw some fresh mango out and there was no need to swim anywhere as huge schools of fish surrounded you! Unbelievable experience. Each stop was about 30 minutes of snorkeling time which absolutely flew by! It all ended too soon! Based on today’s experience I could go out daily! Definitely the highlight of the Western Caribbean cruise so far! They offered options to visit a chocolate factory or shop or get lunch, but I came for the snorkeling and elected to just go back to port. The drove me directly into the port area making so easy to get back onto the cruise ship. Dani offers multiple tours and options so inquire directly with him. You will be treated with professionalism and enthusiasm by him and his staff. You can’t ask for a better way to spend time in Roatan Honduras. Safe welcoming and treated like family.

Snorkeling at West End Roatan with RTGA

Danni emailed as soon as I booked the excursion and provided many details so that I was completely at ease about our meeting place and the details of our excursion. We arrived fifteen minutes early and immediately found Vanessa with the RTGA sign. She has the most energetic, outgoing personality and was so much fun! We have always booked our excursions through Royal Caribbean but didn’t find the snorkel trip we were looking for and took a chance on Roatán Tour Guide Association and we are SO HAPPY that we did! Vanessa made us feel like VIPs! Thank you also to Danni for meeting us at the beach and thank you to our boat captain and snorkel guide. Before and after our snorkeling, Vanessa took us to souvenir shops, the chocolate factory and to Half Moon to eat at Annie’s! The food was AMAZING! We had 6 people in our group and our snorkel trip was a private tour! We are regular cruise ship passengers and expect great service but this excursion was way above our expectations! Thank you for such a beautiful Roatan experience. We look forward to visiting again and we will always call on RTGA!

Sexually assaulted by guide

This had 5 stars so I had high hopes. I didn’t know it was a private tour until I got there but it was fine. But I got super seasick, throwing up the whole time. My snorkel guide, Mario, the last time we were in the water, grabbed my butt multiple times. This was incredibly scary and traumatic as a solo female traveler. I texted Dani, the owner, who wrote a nice message and said he’d address it with Mario. But if Mario is still working there, I have to say this is NOT a safe tour for solo female travelers in particular. Incredibly predatory.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We take all concerns regarding guest safety and conduct very seriously. Upon receiving your message, we immediately spoke with Mario and reviewed the circumstances of the tour, including speaking with the captain who was present during part of the excursion. We acknowledge your concerns and respect that your experience did not feel comfortable for you. We also recognize the importance of addressing this matter transparently for future guests. Prior to entering the water, you experienced significant seasickness and were vomiting on the boat. Mario checked with you at that time to confirm whether you still wished to continue with the snorkeling portion of the tour despite feeling unwell, and you chose to proceed. During the snorkeling activity, you continued to experience severe seasickness and vomiting in the water. According to both Mario and the captain, the primary focus at that moment was your safety and ensuring you could safely return to the boat. The captain also observed Mario providing assistance and support while you were unwell on the boat. In open-water situations where a guest is physically unwell or in distress, guides may need to make physical contact in order to assist, stabilize, or help safely return the guest to the boat. The priority in these moments is always the guest’s safety. Following a full internal review of the circumstances described, we did not find any indication that Mario’s actions were inappropriate in nature or motivated by anything other than concern for your wellbeing and safety during a difficult situation. Mario has worked with us for more than three years and has guided thousands of guests. During this time, he has consistently received excellent feedback from guests of all types, and we have never previously received a complaint of this nature involving him. While we understand that your interpretation of the events differs from Mario’s account, our review supports that his actions were consistent with assisting a guest in distress in open water conditions. We remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and guest care across all of our tours, and we take all feedback seriously as part of our continuous improvement. We wish you all the best in your future travels.
