Balade dans le quartier juif de Budapest

Description

Timea is a spectacular tour guide. She is knowledgeable, interesting, and it is a pleasure to spend time with her. Her background is steeped in history — both Jewish and Hungarian. She also has wonderful insight into the current state of affairs in Hungary. Both the tour and Timea’s suggestions for further information provided us with a good overview of Jewish life, both past and present, in Budapest.
We had an outstanding tour experience with Timea. She is knowledgeable, articulate, warm and very personable. She took us to the main sites and areas but also to see and experience ‘hidden gems’ that neither a guide book nor ChatGPT would even be aware of. We would and will highly recommend her to any one looking for a Jewish tour of Budapest.
Timea gave my parents a tour two years ago and raved about how incredible she was and they have been all over the world. Our family of five thought that Timea's Jewish Tour was the highlight of our time in Budapest. She explains the symbolism of so many Jewish Memorabilia and has access with incredible insight to the three synagogues, the Shoah Memorial and much of the architecture in the Jewish Quarter. She has first hand knowledge of the plight of the Jewish people during the Nazi Regime from her grandparents elaborate stories that she memorialized. She is a brilliant linguists and English teacher and is passionate about Budapest's history including the fall of the iron curtain and gave us insight into the small yet vibrant remaining Jewish citizens and schools/ Shuls and the commonality of the "Never Again" mentality. It was particularly interesting to have this tour after the new election where there is much more hope for Hungary in general. Timea is a gem! She gets more than a 5 star rating in our book.
What an amazing experience. Timea is so knowledgeable about the history of Budapest and the Jewish Quarter. She shared with us historical and personal information that made the experience so much more meaningful. Not only did she give us the tour of the Jewish Quarter, she took the time to recommend places to eat, other places to visit within the city and other material available about the city. It was truly a pleasure to meet her.
Timea is a sweet knowledgeable guide who takes the time to show you all there is to see in the Jewish quarter and beyond. She answers all your questions. Deep knowledgeable of all Jewish life, buildings and Hungarian Jewish history. I recommend her for a fine tour!
Timea was too wonderful . So knowledgeable , great English , so adaptable and an adorable person . Cant recommend highly enough .
We spent 2 days touring Buda and Pest with Timea! She is an amazing tour guide who is very knowledgeable ,answered all our questions and helped us understanding the history of Hungary, who were the Hungarian Nazis and their role in the death of Jews as well as the German Nazis. She was born and raised in Budapest and shared her family history of survival both past and present. Not only did she know the Jewish sites and history, she also knew about all the building we passed both in Buda and Pest. This tour is a definite must!!
If you are interested in learning about Jewish life in Budapest, both past and present, this tour is absolutely worth it. Timea, who was born and raised in the city and works in Jewish education, was an excellent guide and made the experience feel really personal over the four hours we spent together. She pointed out small architectural details we had walked past multiple times without noticing and used them to tell a much bigger story about Jewish life in Budapest. We did not realize how much history we were walking by just within the few blocks of our hotel. She really knew so much about every corner of the area. What stood out most was how she connected history to the present. She shared what Jewish life looks like in the city today, including sharing details about the synagogues only someone who attended could share, and you could really feel her pride in the community. This definitely made the whole experience feel more meaningful. Even with the length of the tour, it never felt overwhelming. The pacing was great and everything was easy to follow. We saw all the major sites, plus a few we would not have found on our own. Thank you, Timea! It was a really special experience. We hope to return! 10/10 recommend.
Good route guide José Antonio knew Very patient I like it.
Everything from Timea's knowledge of history to your personal family stories made for a wonderful and memorable experience. Don't miss this opportunity to see and experience more than just a walk in the Jewish Quarter.
