We did our tour on a very wet weather day which meant there were so many waterfalls and the moody clouds made for spectacular photos. Our guide Tarnya was absolutely awesome. Her commentary was very informative & having experienced x2 earthquakes the night before for the first time, she was very reassuring to us. The picnic lunch was delicious and the boat ride (bad dad jokes aside 😉) was something we’ll never forget. We loved our whole experience.
We were so lucky to have Sacha as our driver and guide, so friendly , helpful and knowledgeable. Sacha made sure everyone was well taken care of with lots of stops and photo opportunities. We enjoyed both a fresh and delicious morning tea and lunch. The boat ride through Milford Sound is an amazing experience, I was worried about the rainy weather but all the waterfalls were just breathtaking. Chris was our skipper and we were entertained with both his commentary about Milford Sound and his sense of humour. Lachie was so polite and friendly and wanting to lend a helping hand to everyone. Tea , coffee and biscuits supplied for the boat journey. We had such an amazing day and couldn’t fault anything from start to finish.
That is brilliant. The waterfalls are amazing in the wet weather and a moody sky makes for some fantastic photos. Sacha is indeed a friendly helpful guide and we are pleased you felt well looked after. Many thanks.
Stephen was a great guide and driver. The experience was incredibly well organised, and it was lovely to be part of a smaller group and really get to enjoy it. An incredible day with great views. Highly recommend booking this!
Thank you so much. We are pleased you enjoyed your experience and had a fantastic day.
Having a driver was great, as the road to Milford Sound can be challenging, especially on a rainy day. Unfortunately, the rain meant Mirror Lakes weren’t as reflective as they usually are, but we were lucky enough to see lots of Kea birds, which were very entertaining. We even saw a small avalanche along the way, which was pretty amazing! The Milford Sound cruise itself was fantastic, with plenty of waterfalls, breathtaking scenery and a truly magical atmosphere. The packed lunch was also a pleasant surprise and much better than I expected. It was more than just a sandwich, with fruit, chocolate, cheese and crackers included. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and I really enjoyed the tour. My only criticism would be that the tour felt a little rushed on the way to Milford Sound because the tour was running behind schedule and we needed to catch the cruise. I understand there wasn’t much flexibility with the timing, but it meant we couldn’t stop at many scenic spots or have much time to take photos along the way. On the way back, however, the weather had cleared and the sun was out, and we arrived back around 3:30pm. As the tour was advertised as 9.5 hours, I hadn’t planned anything afterwards. I would have loved to have stopped at a few more scenic spots or been given a little more time to take photos, especially with the better weather. The scenery along the road was beautiful, so it felt like a missed opportunity not to make the most of it. Overall, it covered the essentials, but there is definitely room for improvement to make the experience more enjoyable.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for joining us on our Milford Sound day tour! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the experience and the incredible scenery of Milford Sound. We really appreciate your comments and will continue working to make our tours even better. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to New Zealand again soon! 🌿🏔️
Jamie was the host with the most on our tour to Milford Sound. He’s been doing this for decades, and knew a few spots for photos that most people drive past or look in the opposite direction. Pick up was easy and on time. The weather was a little iffy in Te Anau itself, but it fined up on the Sound. Morning tea was a great photo stop, and the Kea came out to play. Lunch was excellent, and the cruise was fantastic. Though there wasn’t a lot of wildlife to be seen, it was still a great day.
We are pleased you enjoyed your day and got to see the cheeky Kea. Jaime sure knows some great spots for great photos. Many thanks.
This is an outstanding trip. Our local guide, Steven, was excellent. Lots of information and stories and so engaging with everyone on the tour. The stops were well timed in great locations, with a great morning tea provided. As well, the lunch provided for the boat trip was extremely tasty and more than we expected. Great boat trip with commentary on board too. I would highly recommend this tour.
Thank you so much, Stephen definitely knows his stuff. Very pleased you enjoyed the tour and the cruise.
This trip was the best part of out trip around South Island. The tour guide Tania did a great job explaining all the details of the Milford Sound. What we liked the most about this tour was not only her delightful sense of humour and but also the careful driving skills she took us to the destination. We felt really secure along the way to the Milford Sound and on our way back to the accommodation. The lunch was great and we really enjoyed it. I understand what made people give them the highest reviews. Kea is the cherry on top of this journey. I feel becoming more aware of the importance of preserving the nature including wildlife. Thank you all.
Our guides are very familiar with Milford Road and the conditions especially in winter and safety is paramount. How cool you got to see a cheeky kea. Please yourMilford tour was a highlight from your South Island adventure. Many thanks.
I did the Milford sounds Day tour from Te Anau. This was an excellent tour and well worth the money. Our tour guide Tania was great. She seemed very passionate about the area and her role. I think the smaller group size was great. Very convenient with hotel pick up also. Great stops along the way as well. Can highly recommend this tour and company. I think it was well worth the cost.
Thank you so much. Tania certainly is fantastic and we are pleased you enjoyed your day. Thank you for your recommendation as well.
Tour was definitely the way to go! We felt very comfortable going with someone experienced with driving the road and who understood the conditions etc Tania from Fiordland was very knowledgeable and someone who genuinely wanted you to have a great day :-) Thank you!
Thank you so much. We are pleased you were able to relax and enjoy your experience without driving, Tania and all our guides is brilliant at getting our guests into Milford safely during winter conditions
This was hands down one of the best experiences of the trip. The tour was fantastic, professional, on time. Our tour guide, Tania, was fantastic. She kept us informed at every step but she also had some incredible spots along the way. You can tell she is a local and knows the area very well which was great for us. We were picked up exactly on time, even the van was comfortable. It is absolutely worth leaving a little earlier, the road and the stops are a bit quieter and the weather is perfect. I would recommend this tour to everyone, I will do it again if I am ever lucky enough to travel back. Thank you Tania for an incredible day!
You are most welcome. What a brilliant review, we certainly hope we can see you again. Thank you.
