We had a fantastic time on the glass-bottom boat tour this morning! Our family of five, including three boys ages 11 and under, had an amazing experience from start to finish. On the ride out to Molasses Reef, we were lucky enough to spot several sea turtles, which was a huge hit with the kids. Once we reached the reef, the views through the glass bottom were incredible. We saw an abundance of colorful tropical fish, coral, and even a few sharks, making for an unforgettable experience without ever getting in the water. We were staying at the Holiday Inn Key Largo, so the convenience couldn’t have been better since the marina is located right on the property. It made the whole excursion easy and stress-free. We would absolutely recommend this tour to families or anyone looking for a fun way to experience the beauty of the Florida Keys!
It can get bumpy/ wavy in the way there. greT crew! Friendly crew! Nice air conditioner Salon. Drinks and soda available topside
What was not clear to me when booking was almost of the coral is dead. Did see a few schools of damsel fish. One of groupers, a morey eel and a shark. Not bad really. But not the colorful coral teaming with fish that I was kind of expecting. The crew was great trying to do their best to make it informative. But I left feeling sad for the state our world is in now. That is just me.
If you ate looking to find out more about the teef and not looking for underwater animals, it is good. Otherwise you will be disappointed, because all you see is coral and a few fish. The narrator did a good job explaining all about the reef though.
Natalle, the trip is meant to show you nature in action the fish are not in tanks they are free swimming, unfortunately you must have been on a trip with little activity on the reef. As we cannot control what fish or other species will be out and about each and every trip is different. Sorry if the trip failed to meet your expectations.
It's a fun time, crew is very knowledgeable of the area! Great thing to do with your family! Maybe bring something for nausea if you're prone to motion sickness!
Thank you for the great review and great tip as we are a boat on the open ocean and are subject to the motions of the ocean.
The trip itself was as expected. The boat is comfortable. The upper deck going over to the reef was actually my favorite part. If you are prone to motion sickness take medication before or with you. The literature sent needs to mention that. Another review said they were offered Dramamine on the boat. We were not offered anything and it was very clear my husband was feeling sick. He was completely pale and went to the bathroom to barf. A little more concern on their part would have been appreciated. It takes 45 minutes to get to the reef and 45 minutes back. Actual time at the reef 20-25 minutes.
Norma, sorry if King Neptune sought his revenge, as Dramamine is a preventative and not a cure once your husband got sick it would not work for him, a tip for all guest as we state in the pre-departure briefing and the opening of the narration if you start feeling ill go up on deck and get into the fresh air and fix your eyes on the horizon, there is no miracle cure for sea sickness except for good old fresh air.
It’s a little over 2 hours. Great trip. Beautiful water. Knowledgeable tour guide of the coral reefs- very interesting.
Nina, Thank you for the great rating and review glad we could keep you interested.
I was set up to book, then I read the reviews, and the replies from the person running this business made me run with my money. Very unprofessional.
So you are reviewing a trip you did not take?
Need to know water conditions before going out. 3/4 of the people got motion sickness as the boat once it stopped over the reef continuously rocked and bobbed. Couldn’t even look down to see the reef, not clear just murky. The guide was informative, but couldn’t really absorb what she was saying.
Sorry the trip failed to meet your expectations
Great tour guide. Very knowledgeable and well spoken!! Have the name for every fish we saw and each different coral.
Thank you for the great review, glad you liked our red fish, blue fish explanation!!...lol
