I traveled to Rwanda & Uganda with the Paper Fig Foundation. Jason & Edgar were our drivers and guides for the whole journey. Jason has been working with the foundation for about a decade and I could see and feel the love and tremendous mutual respect between him and the Paper Fig folks. They were more than just colleagues, they were family, and Jason treated us all as such from the moment we arrived. With great care and attention he made us all feel so comfortable, connected, and well taken care of. His expertise was nothing short of extraordinary. From start to finish, both Jason and Edgar were consummate professionals, while at the same time, becoming dear friends to all of us who had the pleasure of meeting them for the first time. I was in Jason’s vehicle and he made my journey truly joyous and unforgettable. Before embarking on this adventure I was sure it would be the animals that would be the highlight but it turns out that it was in fact the people who made this a trip so meaningful for me and Jason is at the top of that list. We lovingly refer to each other as “bestie” now and he was a bestie in every sense of the word! A prime example of this is when I fell quite ill at the beginning of the journey. Jason made it a priority, even on tight schedule, to take me to a pharmacy, patiently translate my needs, and get me the medicine I needed! He even went as far as to spot me the funds as my bank was giving me trouble. He did not have to do that for me, but he did with love because that’s the type of person he is! I felt safe and so cared for which is paramount when traveling far from home with so many unknowns including the language. Whether we were on a Jeep safari or navigating a boat safari, Jason worked tirelessly, and with flexibility that appeared effortless, to ensure we got to see all the animals we were hoping to see and more. But what made this trip so special was that Jason didn’t just show us the wildlife—he completely immersed us in the culture. He patiently answered every question, taught and helped us practice local words and phrases, and shared his extensive knowledge of local culture in both countries. Even during potentially stressful moments like border crossings, he remained entirely cool, collected, and full of joy. Jason looked out for us like family; whenever we needed anything, he took care of it instantly. He made us feel incredibly safe, comfortable, and welcome. If you are looking for a flawless, deeply authentic, and deeply caring safari experience, look no further. I cannot recommend them highly enough and look forward to returning to see my bestie as soon as I possibly can.
An amazing experience tracking the chimpanzees in Kibale and the Gorillas in Bwindi. Bornlight was an excellent guide and driver. Everything happened as smoothly as planned in the itinerary. Lodges were excellent and the service was top notch. I highly recommend this guide service.
I’m incredibly grateful to Jason and the entire team at Safari Vacations and Travel Services Ltd for the outstanding support they provided in helping me secure a gorilla trekking permit at very short notice. Traveling in February 2026 on a tight timeline, everything was handled with remarkable speed, professionalism, and clear communication from start to finish. Jason’s deep knowledge of the permit process, combined with the company’s strong local networks, made what seemed impossible happen seamlessly. The whole experience was stress-free, well-organized, and exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Safari Vacations and Travel Services Ltd for gorilla trekking and any safari experience—truly reliable, efficient, and five-star service
We had a wonderful experience with Safari Vacations & Travel Services in Uganda. Planning the trip with Jason was smooth and professional, he always replied quickly, listened to our wishes and everything from organisation to payment went hassle-free. Our driver and guide Darias was reliable, knowledgeable and genuinely kind. Also, even when something would’t go exactly as planned, he always found a good solution. The gorilla trekking was an absolutely unforgettable experience we would recommend to anyone. Overall, all our expectations and hopes were fully met. Thank you for an amazing journey!
Amazing experience! We Booker Last Minute with my friends and everything worked perfectly. Professional employees, nice Apartment with friendly workers as well and a great view. All in all was it a perfect experience.
We had an incredible experience with Gerald. Communication, value for money and the entire experience was 10/10. Would highly recommend.
Our trip with Safari Vacation and our guide Vincent was excellent. From the very beginning Jason (organizer/owner) from Safari vacations was always quick to answer and adjusted little details according to our wishes. Vincent the guide picked us up before the agreed time. And was always on time. We felt safe throughout because Vincent was very professional (we were two women) and always gave comprehensive explanations and answered all our questions because of his wealth of knowledge. He did a great job on a professional level and was very protective and courteous on a personal level. We had an additional two days in Rwanda. We were also very lucky with the monkeys, chimpanzees and gorillas, and were always able to find the animals quite quickly with the hiking guides we were assigned to. As a result, we had almost the entire penultimate day free because we finished quite quickly, but Vincent made sure that we could do another cultural village tour, which we were also very happy with (now we know how coffee, banana beer and banana gin are made). Vincent was also kind enough to take us to the airport later on the last day so that we could do a little shopping. The nature in Rwanda and Uganda is breathtakingly beautiful. The people are very friendly. It took some getting used to, of course, but everyone was very accommodating. The food in the lodges was also very good and often very natural, which we also liked. All in all, the trip was a worthwhile experience with many different impressions. And we would book with Safari Vacations and Vincent again anytime. So can only highly recommend it.
Our guide Adams was amazing. Kept us laughing everyday & saved my life lending me his boots for the gorilla trek. Of which was sensational, along with the chimpanzee trek too.
