Great experience plenty...

Great experience plenty of food. Got lucky and it was only us 2. Sharon was amazing and took her time and waited while we ate. We had a weekend tour. Walking wasn't too bad, and we were asked multiple times if we wanted more. Great experience overall highly recommend to everyone. Mostly all street stalls that help give you a real experience.

Awesome

A LOT of delicious food! Very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Be ready to walk and take a busy bus. It’s fun. You get to see and feel the city. We are vegan and felt very seen and safe thank you.

The worst tour guide I have ever experienced

The tour guide rushed everyone through everything and made us share food plates - when we each paid individually for the experience. It was very difficult for anyone to enjoy the experience because she was making us rush while we ate, while we walked, etc. She was rude and on her phone the whole time. She left people behind in an area that she herself stated was not the best area. She was obviously trying to rush us through and cut her cost. Absolutely would not recommend.

UPDATED MAY 29TH: Anjali, We have looked into your claims about your guide rushing. We have the physical evidence on the receipts of every place you went to with the time stamps of when you were there, including the last stop, which shows your tour ended at 18:24. The tour starts at 14:30. We fulfilled the tour as per description and your guide did not rush. Furthermore, she informed me you guys actually took an Uber due to your father's condition, so you were more than comfortable during the route. I am trying to understand if this review has more to do with Olivia's campaign of slander than your actual dislike of the experience. Please feel free to contact us so we can show you the visual proofs of your guide not rushing. We are more than happy to discuss it. -Mena Hello Anjali, We never made you do anything, the experience is built so you have as much food as possible and you yourself said how full you were at the end, so I dont understand why you would say the portions are not enough. We always encourage you to share and if you want more food, you are free to ask for more. This has always been out policy since it is an all-you-can-eat experience. About your guide rushing: I will make sure to dig into what happened, since this is not the service we want to provide to our customers. We will definitely look into what happened Best, -Mena

Disappointing Tour and Extremely Unprofessional Response

I booked this tour because I wanted to support a local vegan/vegetarian business and experience authentic street food, so I was very disappointed by both the tour itself and the way my feedback was handled afterwards. Several foods specifically mentioned online including tlacoyos, esquites, and tortas de milanesa were not included, despite us being told at the beginning of the tour that we would be having tortas. I was also surprised that two of the stops were chain businesses rather than independent street food vendors, which did not match my expectations of a “street food tour.” The tour is also advertised as “all you can eat,” but the portions were small throughout and food was frequently shared between guests. Despite repeated comments from the guide about how much food there would be, I left still hungry and ended up eating again afterwards. There were also issues with group management. Two elderly guests struggled to keep up during the tour, one became separated from the group at one point, and another was nearly left behind while boarding public transport. This created an uncomfortable atmosphere for the rest of the group. To be fair, I personally got on well with Sharon, who ran the tour itself. However, after the tour I privately contacted the company to raise my concerns and request a partial refund. Instead of handling the complaint professionally, Mena responded with a series of rude and personal messages accusing me of exploiting underpaid workers, “looking for stuff to complain [about],” and saying that my “priority was to not get [my] hair wet.” For context, it had started raining during the tour and I briefly stopped to buy an umbrella from a street stall, as did other guests. I rarely leave negative reviews, especially for vegan/vegetarian businesses, which I genuinely want to support, but the overall experience and the way the complaint was handled fell far below expectations.

Olivia, Since you have gone out of your way to post slanderous, fake and untrue reviews pretty much everywhere, I am going to post the exact reply I have responded with in every single one of your "reviews" since I really wont waste one more second of my time on your lies: *Olivia, I will address point by point your accusations, starting by the fact that your review fails to be "polite", as you would like to believe, when you basically say that the right of your guide to earn a fair wage and get paid for her work is not a priority for you. I have absolutely no regards or patience for people who come to Mexico and expect everything to be nearly free. Us locals have a right to make a decent living and be able to travel as well, not just serve you hand and foot for pennies (which you seem to think its the BAU that should be perpetuated) All of our pricing structures are calculated so wages are fair across the board, and we do not ask for discounts or perks from our providers. You came on a tour that delivered everything described on the tour notes, including the tlacoyos which YOU did not like and hence did not finish. All of our items are subject to availability and our vendor's opening hours, and this is stated in the terms and conditions of our website. Sometimes, a certain dish may not be available for situations out of our control. If this happens, we have plan b, c and d because we understand the nature of a street food tour and we want everyone to have the same variety and amount of food. In your case, you were offered everything and you refused to eat the tlacoyos, for example. Those tlacoyos you mention at the beginning of your review, were not included. Are you joking? *You uploaded a photo on your Google review of the tlacoyo you said was not included on your tour*, which you did not want to eat, but magically was not included. See how your whole review is based on lies? You also constantly complained about the rain (we warned you to be prepared) and you made the group wait for 20 MINUTES, under the rain, while you got an umbrella. You say there was some problems with the elderly couple, which created tension among the group members. I reached out to the family to enquire about the situation, and it turns out the tension started when YOU made them wait 20 minutes to buy an umbrella, making the group detour and basically showing no regard or respect to your fellow group members, including your guide. You mention not being able to eat the torta spoken about at the beginning of the tour, and you are correct--- the group was not able to make it to the torta stall because of your 20 minute shopping, insisting on taking a detour, insisting on getting you a bag for your hair and just generally delaying the group. This is why there was so much tension. About El moro and La Michoacana: neither are chains. La Michoacana is a location owned by two brothers who make their own aguas frescas, and el Moro is an institution in the history of churros in mexico city. So, again, false statements. Furthermore, the reason why we encourage you to share is because we want you to try as much food as possible and, if we did not encourage you to share, you would not make it past the second stop. This is the first review since we started on 2018 where someone has said they were not full. Most people are so satisfied they don't have more food for the rest of the day. Additionally, you are encouraged to ask for more food if you so desire it, but one thing we wont do is contribute to food waste, so we wont order more food when you have not finished what you already have ordered, or when you are taking stuff to go. It is an all-you-can-eat tour, not an all-you-can-take, which is actually quite abusive. Finally and to close: you took a tour that ran as expected. You ate a lot, and still asked for a refund? How is this polite? How is this not offensive, particularly when the tension and delays were created by you? I am actually glad you left this review. It is the only 1 star review we have, and none of the content is accurate. I am happy to have future customers understand the nature of our business and the type of person who decided to leave a 1 star review for a company with overwhelming rave reviews, who protects its employees and which engages in sustainability. This review says more about you, than us. -Mena*

Highly recommend this tour!

We had such a great time on this tour! So glad we booked it. Sharon is a wonderful, caring, friendly tour guide, and she is extremely knowledgeable about the vegan/vegetarian scene in Mexico City! We visited and sampled food from a bunch of different vegan restaurants/food stands in a few different neighborhoods. All of the food was delicious! We now know where to get the best vegan food for the remaining days of our trip. We highly recommend this amazing tour!

Vegan Mexican food off the beaten track. Bring your appetite!

This was a nice walking tour of vegan and vegetarian Mexican food. All the stops were at places you wouldn’t easily find on Google. We sampled amazing tacos, vegan chicharrones and brisket, fresh fruit, agua frescas from stalls and family owned restaurants in working class neighborhoods. We ended up skipping. The last 2 places because we were so full. This was despite skipping lunch. But we did take down the name and location for future visits. Sharon was knowledgeable and friendly.

Amazing vegan options! Must book.

Cristina and Mena put an amazing itinerary together. Not only are the food choices amazing, but feel great about supporting women owned local businesses. Highly recommend!

Vegetarian food tour

Simply a must do experience if you are a vegetarian or vegan! We started at 2:30 and ended at 7:30! Stop by at the mango stand was a pleasant surprise.

Different socioeconomic neighborhoods and vegetation places that I otherwise would have been as a traveler who is not familiar with CDMX.
