Description
Le Musée national d'anthropologie est un musée national du Mexique. C’est le musée le plus grand et le plus visité du Mexique.
C'est le bâtiment le plus important d'Amérique latine, avec des chambres qui contiennent les preuves préhispaniques des Mexicas, Mayas, Toltecas et plus de cultures du pays à travers le temps.
Le musée d'anthropologie est le lieu le plus emblématique de la sauvegarde de l'héritage indigène mexicain. Il se présente comme un symbole identitaire et un mentor pour les générations qui veulent connaître leurs racines culturelles.

Le musée est la synthèse d'une prouesse idéologique, scientifique et politique.
Les collections du musée comprennent la pierre du soleil, des têtes de pierre géantes de la civilisation olmèque trouvées dans les jungles de Tabasco et de Veracruz, des trésors récupérés de la civilisation maya, au cénote sacré de Chichen Itza, entre autres. Il possède également un modèle de l'emplacement et de l'aménagement de l'ancienne capitale aztèque Tenochtitlan, dont le site est maintenant occupé par la zone centrale de l'actuelle Mexico.
Les expositions permanentes du rez-de-chaussée couvrent toutes les civilisations précolombiennes situées sur le territoire actuel du Mexique ainsi que sur l'ancien territoire mexicain dans ce qui est aujourd'hui le sud-ouest des États-Unis.
Le musée accueille également des expositions itinérantes, généralement axées sur d'autres grandes cultures du monde.

Fantastic Private Group Tour
3 adult family members in our private tour with Fernando! He was waiting for us when we arrived, holding a sign with my name. He was very friendly and engaging, and so knowledgeable and passionate about Mexican history. He kept us moving through the exhibits, but didn't rush us, guiding us through the high points of the museum, explaining them very clearly. He gets an 11 out of 10 from us. Afterwards we kept talking about how much we enjoyed this tour. Needless to say, highly recommend!!!

Great Tour!
Poncho was a great guide!! He was very knowledgeable and engaging. It was really helpful to have a guide so that we weren’t overwhelmed by the museum and got the interesting story behind many items.

Great Start to Mexico City Stay
What an amazing museum and a great way to start our time in Mexico City! Our tour guide Leonardo did a fantastic job highlighting the main time periods and events of Mexican history. He was knowledgable, friendly, and made us want to learn more. I only wish we had allowed ourselves more time after the scheduled tour to stay longer and see more of that impressive place. Amazing experience
From the start we were delayed because of a marathon in the area. Jorge was very easy to communicate with, understanding and didn’t begin the tour until we arrived. He was very knowledgeable about the history and culture! I couldn’t imagine exploring the museum without his guidance. Thank you! We will definitely book again

Great informational tour of Aztec civilization

Highly Recommend
Alicia was an incredible tour guide! She made all of the history and lore seem incredibly interesting and we were so locked in and eager to learn more, even after a long day of travel. I highly recommend booking this tour, because otherwise the museum itself is too overwhelming.

The Anthropology Museum makes my list of top museums I’ve been to around the world.
Alicia, our guide, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The museum itself was amazing. From its design, to use of materials, interior colors that highlight the items on display. If you’re from out of town and have limited time, I highly recommend a tour.
