Amouage & Nizwa Excursion d'une journée: Fort, Souq & Barakat Al Mouz

Luay, my assigned local guide, made the experience truly amazing. The rich culture and history of Nazwa was an unforgettable experience, especially when I interacted with the locals to learn about their heritage and to share their culture first hand. Thank you Luay and hope to revisit Muscat again.

We had an exceptional experience on our Nizwa tour on December 31, 2024, thanks to our guide, Mahmood Alissai. His extensive knowledge of the history of Nizwa Fort, the ancient Omani irrigation system, Falaj Daris—a and Falaj Al Khatmee - UNESCO World Heritage site—greatly enriched our visit. Following Mahmood’s recommendation, we visited the Oman Across Ages Museum, which was both impressive and well worth our time. Mahmood thoughtfully provided bun cake and orange juice in the car before the trip, and along the way, he treated us with karak tea multiple times. He also introduced us to a delightful Omani restaurant. Mahmood was exceptionally patient, allowing us ample time for photography and to absorb the historical information at each site. He hwlped us in taking photos. At the souk, he guided us to shops offering high-quality Omani sweets like halwa and dibs, ensuring we experienced authentic local flavors. His kindness was further demonstrated when he presented us with a thoughtful gift, which brought us great joy. Overall, the trip was thoroughly enjoyable and time well spent. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mahmood and look forward to contacting him on our next visit to Oman.

This was one of my best experiences in Oman. The city was incredible, and the castle and fort were truly impressive. We had a fantastic time! If you want to see Oman’s natural beauty and palm groves, make sure to visit the village near Nizwa if you have the time.

Loay was a great tour guide. Especially with me being a solo traveller, it’s least great to meet someone like him that becomes my besty for the day! He was so informative and knew all the great spots and information and was above and beyond helpful and accommodating. He didn’t even complain when I asked him to take a million photos and videos of me with my phone 😅 I highly recommended

Marvelous experience! Could not request for anything more. We have started our tour at Nizwa, visiting the souq and the fort and castle. Words cannot make justice of it. Afterwards, our guide Loay drove to an amazing traditional omani restaurant where they have delight us with their food. Lastly we ended up at Barakat Al Mouz that was a typical village with scenic surroundings of banana farms. Once again it left us speecheless with their grandiosity. Thank you so much Loay for this amazing and one-of-a-kind experience and truly reccomend everyone to book with him, you will thank me later!

We took this tour on our last day in Oman and I'm very glad we did. Nizwa is beautiful and loaded with history, and Hisham was a wonderful guide. He has excellent knowledge of the history of the place, but was also subtly aware of our preferences and managed to make it a fun experience, despite a very hot day. The fort, the souq, the date market and the date palm plantation were the highlights of our trip. Highly recommended!
