Absolute fantasy to do the Island of Skye tour. We had the best luck to have George as our driver, who’s also a great singer and fantastic storyteller, thank you!
This was the second Rabbie’s tour I’ve done through trip advisor, and my first experience was great but this one absolutely was the best. Skye is a MUST-SEE on a trip to Scotland, but getting there on our own while trying to do some sightseeing in Edinburgh and elsewhere in the UK seemed very daunting. This tour made it so easy, and it was absolutely the highlight of an already excellent trip. Having someone else do the driving through the Highlands is a huge bonus, as we could focus on the scenery and not the (very narrow and winding) roads. I can’t imagine having enjoyed the trip half as much had I rented a vehicle and driven us. The value of this trip for this alone really can’t be understated. Also, the accommodations Rabbie’s booked for us were honestly surprisingly great- I was worried we would be roughing it, but we had a very nice, decently spacious room with a view over the Portree bay. It was so cozy and comfortable and honestly nicer (and cheaper) than our accommodations in the city for way less money. And they took care of the booking for us! Our tour guide, Neil, was just excellent. He shared legends, stories of growing up in the area, history and took us to some hidden gems in Skye (and along the way) that we just never could have possibly known about or found on our own in just a few days. He planned our itinerary around pretty uncooperative weather and made sure we saw everything, got time to hike around at our leisure, avoided crowds to the maximum extent possible and saw the main attractions, as well as off-the-beaten path moments that gave us some more privacy to revel in the awe inspiring sights of Skye and the Highlands. This trip is excellent for families, couples or solo. It was comfortable, easy, and it was the best way to maximize our limited time in Scotland. I am still blown away by how much we were able to do and see in three days without being completely worn out. One of my favorite travel experiences of all time!
First of all, if you can request a guide...ask for Declan/Dec. Fantastic, superb, excellent...am I using words to sufficient to make my point. Highlands are beautiful and Dec made them even more interesting with his stories and knowledge. It's a long drive but he made it easier. Roads are crazy narrow but Dec was super patient with some crazy drivers. Portree is a fun little town too Only complaint is the seats were a little uncomfortable for the long hauls.
Absolutely adorable experience! I joined the 3-day Isle of Skye tour from Edinburgh. Our tour guide David was genuinely a manifestation of modern highland hospitality. He constantly makes sure everyone’s feeling comfortable, informed, and have the freedom to explore the sites in their own ways. I felt really taken care of throughout the trip! David’s also passionate in sharing Scottish history and folklore, as well as policies and life nowadays that are related to the historical context. This isn’t any typical sightseeing tour, but a rich experience where you can learn a lot about the culture and history of Scotland from people who’re proud fond of their homeland. Thank you Rabbie’s and David!
I book this tour without knowing what to expect and ot was the best decision ever!! Ally was EXCEPTIONAL... he knew every story, he was very patient explaining every little detail and since I was traveling solo got to be his copilot and was even better!! He's responsible for my new obsession with Scottish History!! And yes... I loved the haggis he recommended.
Fantastic 3 days tour with Neil that showed us the best of Isle of Skye and Scottish Highlands.
Our Isle of Skye trip was exceptional! Our host Craig was fantastic:). He told interesting stories and jokes. He also made sure that all 16 people in our group were able to do activities they wanted such as hikes, a distillery visit, petting Shetland cows, and even swimming at a Scotland pier. Craig took us to incredible look out spots all over so we could take beautiful photos of the landscape. Isle of Skye is breathtaking. Somehow we were blessed with 3 days on sunshine. I am grateful we travelled with an expert driver because some roads are dicey, to say the least. The accommodations were spectacular and the hosts were lovely. Breakfasts were delicious. Our only challenge was finding restaurants open in Portree at night for dinner. This is not a negative about the tour but just a challenge in Portree and something to note.
Book direct with Rabbie's. We did 3 tours from Endinburg - 3 day Isle of skye plus 2 day trips - Hadrian's Wall and St Andrews plus a fishing village. Rabbies guides and 15 passenger vans could not be any more enjoyable. All 3 guides were informative and entertaining. We will always use Rabbies. They are very helpful if you have questions and our BB in Portree - kilted fox- was fantastic.
It was a wonderful experience. A little taxing for an 86 year old but I loved it. Make sure you have pounds because places did not take cards.
We absolutely loved this tour! Kim was an amazing guide, her storytelling, knowledge, and personality made the experience so enjoyable. We visited so many beautiful places, and the scenery throughout the Highlands and Isle of Skye was incredible. There is quite a bit of time spent sitting on the bus, but that is simply part of seeing so much of the country in only three days. It was completely worth it, especially because we could relax, enjoy the views, and not worry about driving the narrow roads (opposite as Im used to) ourselves. The stops were well planned, and we had plenty of opportunities to get out, explore, and take photos and walk around. This was a wonderful way to experience the Isle of Skye and the Scottish Highlands, and we would highly recommend it.
