Several weeks before our trip, John sent a proposed itinerary. We let him know which Dublin sights we were definitely interested in and he put together a schedule in order for us to purchase tickets ahead of time. We were late for the meeting, but John waited for us and let us know we would still be able to see all he had planned. The morning was spent mostly driving around while John provided information about points of interest in Dublin. This was perfect for us as we got to see a lot over a couple of hours. The pub John chose for lunch was excellent. We got to enjoy a great Irish meal without being rushed. We finished the tour at Guinness Storehouse followed by Teeling Distillery, both of which were thoroughly enjoyed. This was my favorite tour of our trip. We highly recommend having John take you around Dublin or any other part of Ireland you may want to visit.
Thank you, I’m delighted you enjoyed it.
John was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful in preparing for each stop. John gave us very interesting historical analysis as we drove between stops and “pro” tips and insights on how maximize each experience. The tour was perfectly planned and timed.
Thank you I am delighted you found it so useful and enjoyable
John was amazing!!! So smart and full of tons of history and interesting facts!! He took care of us - white glove!
Thank you, I’m delighted you enjoyed it.
John was an excellent tour guide. He has a unique combination of historical, political, geographical, and botanical expertise which resulted in a very educational and enjoyable day!
Thank you. I'm delighted you enjoy it.
John, our guide was fantastic. It wasn't just a ride and listen tour, we had great conversations asking questions and he had all the answers. He is so knowledgeable in History, and we enjoyed the back-and-forth conversations about all of Dublin and beyond. We even continued a particular conversation over lunch together that was so interesting. Can't say enough about how great of a person and guide he is. We had a great day.
Thank you I am delighted you enjoyed it.
John, our tour guide, was amazing. Every stop on the tour was thoughtfully planned and fascinating. He made the trip seamless by helping us secure tickets to the Book of Kells (incredible) and the Guinness Storehouse. John was both informative and engaging, keeping us entertained and thoroughly enjoying the experience.
Thank you. I’m delighted you enjoyed it.
None of the 4 of us had ever visited Dublin before. John was the absolute best guide for us as he safely navigated the hectic streets - more chaotic today because Parliament was beginning it's session. Nonetheless, we accomplished a great deal, visiting Trinity college and the Book of Kells plus a fascinating visit to the Kilmainham Gaol - and more! Lunch at the Brazen Head was a lot of fun. The Guinness never tasted better! Thank you, John, for a great day.
Thank you. I’m delighted you enjoyed it despite the heavier than normal traffic.
If you want a tour where the tour driver lectures you the whole time about his version of history and politics, without wanting discussion or input from you, then this is the tour for you. The tour guide also got us tix for Book of Kells for 6pm for a morning arrival and then just dropped us off and said that it would not be a problem. Actually it was and it took us pleading our way in. The tour guide did not go with us to help with the situation or walk with us and show us around Trinity college. He invited himself to lunch and left before the bill came. He did not offer to pay for his and we had not offered to buy his. Also, he did not even ask where we were from until almost the end of the trip. I could go on and on but will stop there. We travel a lot and always get private tours. I truly try and give the tour driver the benefit of the doubt and leave the kindest review I can. Not in this case!
I am so sorry you were disappointed. As you can see from other reviews this not the experience of others who have done exactly the same tour for many years as you. My other other reviews are all five star. It’s not possible to go into the Book of Kells exhibit and thar is clearly stated on my tours. Guiding is not permitted inside and there are no parking spots nearby so all I can do is set you down and pick you up afterwards. If you would like me reimburse you for lunch I will be happy to do so. Nearly all travellers pay for my lunch and expect me to join them and I thought that is what you expected. I’ll happily reimburse you if you wish. As I explained on the day the only time slot available online was the later one, but I knew that if you went early they would let you in and they did so. That is a regular occurrence there. I am a historian from Dublin and my tours are sought out because of that. I’m delighted to answer questions and try my best to be informative. I’m sorry if you did not enjoy my extensive knowledge of the historic Dublin and its history.
Very knowledgeable guide. Was very good to us and helped with wheelchair. Provided history of Dublin and was able to answer our every question. Took us where we wanted to go. Very nice van transportation.
Thank you. I’m delighted you enjoyed it. It was a pleasure to show you my city.
We had a wonderful day with John visiting some of the haunts where our ancestors likely spent their days and nights in the southern part of Dublin. John worked with us ahead of the tour, tailoring it to the specific sites where our progenitors lived and worshiped, where they were married, and where they are buried. He was able to arrange for us to meet the warm and welcoming people caring for the parishes family members were born into....which was a highlight of our entire time in Ireland. In the afternoon we drove into the countryside to visit a place our great uncles and aunts hung out in their youth, stopping for lunch at a traditional pub (Johnnie Fox's) that we never would have found otherwise. We truly had a wonderful day; thank you John!
Thank you. I’m delighted you enjoyed it.
