It includes some of the history of the Louvre and hi lights some very specific pieces of the artwork and sculptures in the museum. The Louvre is very crowded so be ready for that! It was hard to hear our guide on the audio earpieces provided but she worked to improve after she was made aware of the issue. Amalie was very knowledgeable and passionate about the Louvre and its evolution over the years to become what it is today!
Thank you Deborah! We're so glad Amélie's passion for the Louvre's history came through so clearly — the story of the building itself is as fascinating as the collection. Our earpieces are brand new but the Louvre is a busy environment and occasional interference can happen — please always let your guide know straight away and they'll sort it immediately, just as Amélie did. We'll make sure she sees your kind words. Hope you had a wonderful time here in Paris!
This was the highlight of my trip. Saw some master pieces I wanted, the tour guide was amazing, handled a big group well. Will definitely recommend it.
Thank you Neil! What a wonderful thing to hear — the highlight of your trip means so much to us. We're so glad Mathieu brought those masterpieces to life and kept your group so engaged throughout. We really appreciate the recommendation too! Hope you had a fantastic time here in Paris.
Our guide Sophie was very knowledgeable of the history of the Louvre including both the building itself and the vast collection. Any brief tour depends on the editing of the guide and she did a very nice job of selecting critically important works from the collection for emphasis and discussion at some depth.
Thank you John! What a thoughtful review. Sophie's knowledge of both the building's history and the collection really does set the tour apart, and curating the most important works to explore in depth is exactly the skill that makes a guided visit so valuable. We're so glad it came through so clearly for you. She'll be delighted to hear this!
Very informative experience. I would recommend to everyone. It’s so unbelievable, I could have stayed all day.
Thank you Virginia! The Louvre has that effect on people — there is always something more to discover and you really could spend days in there. We're so glad the tour brought it all to life for you. Hope you had a wonderful time here in Paris!
It was horrible. The meeting spot wasn’t clear or easy to find. The hearing ear piece was the worst. It didn’t stay on. Ear buds work alot better and should be used. Also sanitation wise ear buds are better.
Dear Amy, We are very sorry to read your comments, and would very much appreciate it if you could contact us on contact@memories-france.travel and give us more information as to what you did not like on the tour. We always want to work to improve, and your feeback is essential. As far as the meeeting point goes, we do give very detailed instructions on exactly where it is and how to get there, along with a clear map. We also call all guests who are not there 10 minutes before their tour departure time, so we can help them get there smoothly if they are having any difficulties. Our earpieces are brand new and have excellent sound quality with no interference. But the reason we particularly wanted to use them was exactly because they do not have the single use ear buds. Many thousands of these single use earpieces are thrown away every day after tours, they cannot be recycled - if you saw the huge mountains of plastic waste that they produce I'm sure you would be as convinced as we are that they should not be used. We are committed to responsible tourism, which is why we have chosen these new earpieces. They can be adjusted for either ear, you may have to move them around a little until you find the right spot, but once they are firmly on, they do not move. In terms of hygiene, they are sterilized by UV light and also cleaned after every use, so no worries there! We hope you enjoyed your stay in Paris!
This was the best tour of the Louvre that I have taken! The guide took us through the important art works at a very good pace.
Thank you so much — and what a lovely thing to say! The Louvre is such an extraordinary place and our guides really do put so much care into making sure every guest sees the highlights and comes away feeling they've truly experienced it. We're so glad the pace worked well for you. Hope to see you again in Paris!
The meeting point was perfectly organized. The guide was great. Very engaging, entertaining tour with a personal touch, also very impressive and interesting for our teenagers (14, 16).
Thank you so much for your lovely review! We're really glad the meeting point worked smoothly — we know navigating Paris for the first time can be stressful, so we always try to make that part as easy as possible. It's especially wonderful to hear that the tour held the attention of your teenagers too. The Louvre can feel overwhelming, but our guides have a real talent for making it engaging for everyone, whatever their age or level of interest. We'll make sure your guide knows how much you appreciated the tour!
Anthony, our guide, could have been more succinct in his explanations & could have spent more time on the paintings & other artwork & less time on the underground foundations. Less martyrs/religious paintings & more on a variety of artists. Even though the Louvre has one of the largest collections in the world, I don’t want to ever visit again. And I am an artist!
Dear Ms. Helmkamp We are so sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy sharing in Anthony’s in-depth understanding of the Louvre. From the historic building itself and its fascinating past to its 380,000 objects and 35,000 masterpieces, only a selection can be addressed in an hour and a half tour, alas. Memories guides are trained to let questions influence those choices. With the embarrassment of riches that is the Louvre, we particularly love them as it helps us adapt the tour to you and make sure you are getting what you came for. You are also free after the tour and having skipped the line, to take all the knowledge you have just benefited from and go forth to make your own favorites in the various collections. We do hope nevertheless that, especially as an artist, you do return on future visits to Paris, as it has so very much to offer. We hope as well that this Paris visit otherwise left you captivated. Thank you for the feedback.
The sound system is inadequate. The guide had the Mic way down on her blouse and she spoke softly and the louvres is very loud and echoy. The things to put on your ear don’t stay on your ear. The guide lacked warmth. she was just going through the process with very little enthusiasm. She somehow expected us to be art students which made no sense. This is not a tour I would recommend to others.
Dear Mrs Friesen, We are so sorry to hear of your disappointment! Concerning the sound system, the headsets are brand new, and weare very happy to have them as the earpiece fitting over your ear saves many tons of unnecessary plastic waste by not needing the single use earpieces like many others do. We agree that sometimes they do need a few moments of adjusting, but they can be used on either ear, and once you have found the spot they sit comfortably for the duration of the tour and the sound is very good. If you feel they have the microphone badly placed or are speaking too softly, again, please let them know as a we want above all to share with you our understanding of the masterpieces that give the Louvre its justly earned reputation. The Memories family makes it a point of honor to meet people where they’re at and that includes those who have never so much as step foot in a museum. We welcome all and love nothing more than opening the doors to the wonder that art can be when rendered accessible by a skilled art mediator like the one who led your tour. She regularly garners five star reviews, particularly for her Louvre tour, with guests raving about her skill and passion for what she is sharing, including for the very tour you booked. We are sad to learn that we did not earn your recommendation, but given the proven track record of this guide’s quality of work, we admit to being mystified at your dissatisfaction. We will, however, investigate further. We do hope the rest of your time in our lovely city left you with memories to cherish for years to come.
The Louvre is massive and extremely popular. The guided tour, helps with the "skip the line" entry process, gives you the highlights of the exhibit halls and then the tour is over giving you plenty of independent time to explore the exhibits that hold the most interest for you. One note, the Louvre will not permit umbrellas into the exhibit halls. We were scheduled on a rainy Paris morning for our tour. Our guide failed to mention that to everyone until we were making our way up the escalators, only to be delayed until umbrellas were checked. It seems that is the kind of information a "guide" should be pointing out in advance.
We were delighted to know that you enjoyed your guide’s knowledge and unique perspective on the iconic pieces that make the Louvre’s worldwide reputation. Such expertise is gained only after arduous years of study in art and languages that qualify one to be a Memories guide. We do hope that you benefited from it in exploring on your own afterward. We are sorry for the umbrella slip up, which should have been addressed. We were happy though, also to take you right past the snaking lines of the vast numbers of people who come to admire the wonders of these collections, and to get you what you most want to see, sailing you with ease through the labyrinth of corridors that so famously lose people to the point that they saturate before getting to the showstoppers. Thanks so much for booking with us and leaving your detailed comments!
