¡El Coliseo Negro, esperando ser explorado bajo la ciudad moderna!
Uno de los lugares más evocadores de Catania. Una antigua cueva de flujo de lava, reutilizada en la época griega como cisterna y luego como tumba catacumba por los romanos. Según la tradición, fue el lugar del primer entierro de Santa Ágata, sobre el cual posteriormente se construyó una pequeña iglesia ya en el año 262. Hoy en día, la cripta aún conserva restos de antiguos frescos y decoraciones talladas directamente en la roca viva.
El Amenano, un misterioso río subterráneo que serpentea bajo el centro histórico de Catania, originalmente fluyó hacia la superficie que alimenta el Lago de Nicito. A lo largo de los siglos, las erupciones, los terremotos y las guerras han cambiado no solo la planificación urbana de la ciudad, sino también su aspecto natural. Visitaremos una sugerente cueva deslizante en la que aún fluye una rama del río.

Excellent guide who used his experience as an archeologist to really bring the tour alive. As well as very interesting information about the places we saw, he also shared with us the tastes of local history through food and drink that he bought for us at local venders. I would thoroughly recommend this tour for a real flavour of Catania

You will see underground Roman amphitheater which will is very impressive. But could do this in your own for a 4 euro entrance fee. Mathilda was very nice and knowledgeable but there are placards that explain everything. The other 2 places were caves nothing overly impressive and 1 euro entrance fees. We were treated to a typical Sicilian street food and water plus a granita type drink. Definitely not worth the cost of the tour

Underground Catania was the best way to experience and learn about the history, architecture, and culture of the city. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Catania for the first time!

It was a very knowledgeable tour guide who had a lot of passion of the subject, which we really enjoyed! Mathilde was great at answering all questions and always pointed at the most interesting aspects of the buildings/caves…etc. it is not a tour fully underground, but you’re visiting three separate underground locations. It is a great tour with a fantastic tour guide! Very highly recommend!
