Embárquese en una aventura de senderismo exclusiva para grupos pequeños en el Parque Nacional de las Cajas, Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, reconocido por sus impresionantes paisajes y su rica biodiversidad. Comience su viaje en la divisoria continental, donde las aguas fluyen hacia los océanos Pacífico y Atlántico, ofreciendo una perspectiva geográfica única. Diríjase al Refugio Toreadora, situado en medio de las tierras altas del parque, y atraviese senderos que serpentean a través de un tapiz fascinante de lagos glaciares y el raro Bosque Polylepis, hogar de algunas de las especies de árboles de mayor altitud del mundo. Concluya su exploración en el sereno bosque montano Llaviuco, sumergiéndose en su tranquila belleza durante una segunda caminata vigorizante. Este tour meticulosamente elaborado brinda una oportunidad inigualable para experimentar los diversos ecosistemas del Parque Nacional Cajas, asegurando una aventura inolvidable para los amantes de la naturaleza y los excursionistas por igual.

Itinerario
Comenzamos nuestro recorrido con recogidas en hoteles en Cuenca. Conducimos durante aproximadamente una hora hasta el refugio Toreadora desde donde realizaremos una caminata en las tierras altas a través del ecosistema de páramos de humedales y lagos para llegar al bosque único de árboles Polylepis. Estos son los árboles de mayor crecimiento en el mundo y son nativos de América del Sur. El parque incluye aproximadamente 768 lagos en un área de 70,533 acres. Es una de las fuentes de agua más importantes de Cuenca y Ecuador. Ha ganado prominencia internacional en varias categorías: Humedal de Importancia Internacional en 2002 por RAMSAR, Área de Importancia Internacional para la Conservación de Aves por IBA en 2003 y Reserva de la Biosfera por UNESCO en 2013.
Luego, exploraremos el Bosque Nuboso Llaviuco donde podrá apreciar el contraste del parque en nuestra caminata de 1.5 horas. Si tenemos suerte, podríamos ver Tucans. Después de una aventura de día completo, regresamos a Cuenca. Nos detendremos en un restaurante local para almorzar. ¡La especialidad es la trucha!

The hike in Las Cajas was fantastic! There were 3 other young ladies on the hike with us. We were guided by Winston. He paced the hike just right, took us to trails that were challenging and got us to excellent views. The lunch was good. The potato soup was delicious. The trout was just ok. A little bland. The warm drinks were good.

Beautiful hike through the nature reserve. Finished with a good hot meal. Make sure you wear good clothes or bring them with you. It can be cold and windy.
