El trekking Base Torres es uno de los tours grupales guiados más populares que se pueden realizar en Puerto Natales, una alternativa perfecta para aquellos viajeros que solo disponen de un día para recorrer Torres del Paine pero no quieren perderse las increíbles vistas del Mirador Base Torres. Este tour se ofrece durante todo el año. Incluso en invierno, muchos viajeros se animan a realizar una caminata hasta el mirador (para los tours invernales, se utilizan crampones para garantizar la seguridad del grupo de hasta 15 personas). Además del transporte y el equipo de montaña, el tour incluye un guía profesional y un asistente, por lo que todos los viajeros estarán acompañados, sin importar la velocidad a la que caminen.

Dificultad: Mediano - 12,43 mi - 20 km (8 horas) - Altitud inicial: 295 pies sobre el nivel del mar (90 m) - Altitud máxima: 2855 pies sobre el nivel del mar (870 m) - El tour comienza con la recogida en su alojamiento y, dependiendo de su ubicación, llegaremos a recogerlos entre las 6:30 y las 7:00 a. m. Una vez formado el grupo, nuestro guía nos entregará bastones de trekking y nos informará sobre el tour, especialmente sobre la caminata a Base Torres. Luego nos dirigiremos al Parque Nacional Torres del Paine. En la temporada de invierno los grupos son pequeños, con un guía por cada 4 viajeros. En temporada de verano los grupos pueden ser de hasta 21 personas, con un guía por cada 6 viajeros para adaptarse a diferentes ritmos de caminata. De esta manera todos los participantes están siempre acompañados. Es común que se formen grupos más pequeños de 7 a 10 personas a lo largo de la ruta, lo que ofrece una experiencia más personalizada.
Luego de un recorrido de dos horas en el shuttle bus, llegaremos al ingreso del Parque Nacional por el Sector Portería Amarga. Desde el momento que ingresamos al parque estaremos disfrutando de las impresionantes vistas de las Torres del Paine.
En este punto, iniciaremos la caminata hacia el Sector Hostería Las Torres. En el trayecto de aproximadamente cuatro horas, atravesaremos el Valle de Ascensio y caminaremos por el acogedor Bosque de Lengas. También veremos el Cerro Almirante Nieto desde varias perspectivas a medida que avanzamos. Al final de este tramo, ascenderemos por una morrena glaciar (sendero rocoso con una pendiente pronunciada), hasta llegar a nuestro destino, el Mirador Base Torres.
Con estas increíbles vistas, almorzaremos, tomaremos fotografías y realizaremos el descenso hasta la pequeña playa que forma el lago. Tocaremos sus aguas y nos maravillaremos con las impresionantes vistas desde la playa. Luego de esta parada, todo el grupo se reunirá y comenzará el descenso, este tramo tiene una duración de aproximadamente tres horas. Luego, el bus shuttle nos regresará a Puerto Natales. Entre las 20:00 y las 21:00 horas, el bus llegará a nuestro alojamiento y finalizará este día lleno de caminatas, emoción y recuerdos en la Base de Torres del Paine.

This is a unique experience and, without a doubt, the best I have ever experienced. It is important to consider that it is highly conditioned by the climate. The guide was transparent from the outset and offered an appropriate service for this type of expedition, which helps minimize risks.

Great communication with the guides from the moment we booked, through pick‑up, and all the way until we were back at the hotel. The scenery was stunning from beginning to end. We enjoyed sunshine for the first four hours, followed by the classic Patagonian mix of clouds and rain — still absolutely beautiful. This guided tour/trek was a great way to hike Base Torres! Pablo and Sebastian were fantastic guides- knowledgeable and patient. It’s a tough hike, especially the last hour, even as someone who works out and runs regularly. I almost gave up with 30-40 minutes to go, but so glad I finished as the views were amazing. The descent was nearly as tough but well worth the pain!

I'm gonna start by saying that Viator needs to change this to a difficult level of hike. If you have any sort of ankle or knee issues, stay away. The view, the hike, all worth it. And our experience may be very dependent on the tour guide we had. Despite having ample time, the whole experience felt rushed, and there was little regard for the physical fitness level of the people hiking (we were a very small group of 4). Even after arriving to the top in a relatively quick pace, we were rushed down the mountain, not only making it dangerous, and painful, but also not really allowing us to take ok the views or take pictures. Carlos was nice but his music ok the morning was incredibly loud (before 7am) and we just didn't feel like he wanted us to enjoy the experience and it was more about getting it done. We were back at our hotel by 6:30 pm. Which really surprised us since he said we'd be back to the national park parking lot around 7 pm.
