Descripción
Echmiatsin es el centro sagrado de la Iglesia Apostólica Armenia, la iglesia construida por el estado más antigua del mundo. Aquí todos pueden visitar el museo "Tesoros de Echmiatsin" para ver la Lanza Sagrada (Lanza), reliquias pertenecientes a los Apóstoles de Jesús y Juan el Bautista, y un fragmento del Arca de Noé. La iglesia de Saint Hripsime es una iglesia apostólica armenia del siglo VII. La iglesia fue construida por Catholicos Komitas sobre los restos del mártir San Hripsime a quien está dedicada la iglesia. La Iglesia de San Gayane es una iglesia armenia del siglo VII ubicada nuevamente en Etchmiadzin. St. Gayane fue construida por Catholicos Ezra I en 630. Esta iglesia está dedicada a la abadesa Gayane y fue construida en el lugar donde fue torturado santa Gayane. El templo de Zvartnots, construido en el siglo VII cerca de Ejmiatsin es un monumento destacado de la arquitectura mundial. En 2000, Zvartnots, junto con las iglesias de St. Hripsimeh, St. Gayaneh y la Catedral Madre en Echmiadzin, fue declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO.

The friendly driver Dikran picked me up on time. He showed me around the places visited, and shared some stories about Armenia. The only thing that I may not be happy was I had to pay two tickets to get in Zvartnots Cathedral as the driver had to drive inside the site.

Even though the museum was closed during my visit, Dikram was an amazing guide. As a Roman Catholic, Dikram gave me an understanding of how the nation of Armenia became the first Christian nation and also gave me tours of other churches. I highly recommend this tour, and thanks to Arevik for contacting me a day before the tour. Without Dikram, my tour guide, I wouldn’t have been able to visit these sites. 😊
