El Hipódromo era el centro social y deportivo del Imperio bizantino, donde tenían lugar carreras de carros, celebraciones y actos públicos. Hoy en día, todavía se pueden ver monumentos históricos como el Obelisco egipcio, la Columna de la Serpiente y la Fuente Alemana.
Construida a principios del siglo XVII, la Mezquita Azul es famosa por sus hermosos azulejos azules de İznik, impresionante cúpula y seis minaretes.
