The guide, Sabih, was very friendly and helpful. He gave us good recommendations for lunch and money exchange in addition. I liked that he gave us free time to look around by ourselves. Like some other viator tours, though, there was a little too much recitation of facts without any particular insights, and too much emphasis on the monetary value of things. Thankfully he kept it to a minimum and we enjoyed seeing the sights.

For the meet-up, you need to get through security at the pier. I wasn't expecting that, so it took me a little while to find the meeting point. The tour itself was amazing. Our guide, Emre, is one of the most knowledgeable and talkative guides I've ever had through Tripadvisor. From the very first minute, he started sharing stories about Istanbul, and throughout the tour we learned so much about both the history of the city and what life is like here today — from the Roman period, through the Byzantine Empire, all the way to the Ottomans and modern Istanbul. What impressed me most was just how much he knew. At Hagia Sophia, he explained every mosaic we came across in detail, including their history, how some of them were covered over during the Ottoman period, and even the centuries-old graffiti carved into the stone and brick. He didn't just point things out — he explained the historical context behind them and connected everything into a much bigger story of the city. Even by the time we reached the Basilica Cistern at the end of the tour, Emre was still just as enthusiastic as he had been at the beginning, sharing details about its architecture, history, and all sorts of interesting stories and little facts along the way. It was a long tour with a huge amount of information, but Emre's enthusiasm and storytelling made it genuinely enjoyable from beginning to end. If you want to actually understand Istanbul rather than just walk around and take photos of the main sights, I would highly recommend this tour and especially Emre as a guide.

Our guide, Elif, was very knowledgeable and funny. She had all the great spots to tell us information and to allow us to explore on our own.

Our guide, Emre met us right outside the cruise port and then took us via local tram to the mosques. We entered both mosques quickly and enjoyed both. Emre was easy to understand and had a great deal of knowledge about the history of both. We then walked to the cistern, which was amazing. The tour ended there but he gave clear directions on how to return to the ship when you were ready. As others have said, proper clothing is needed for the mosques, and our feet were tired after all the walking.

Very informative adventure. There are stairs and ramps to navigate as well as uneven pavement/cobblestones. May not be easy for some people. Meeting point is accurate. Our guide Melissa was amazing. Very personable and caring. She went the extra mile to make sure the entire group enjoyed themselves

Amazing tour and the tour guide was very knowledgeable. He really knew his stuff and was very funny too. He was very respectful of the history and different religions on display at these historic sites. It was a trip of a lifetime.
