La Ciudadela de El Cairo o Ciudadela de Saladino es una fortificación medieval de la era islámica en El Cairo, Egipto, construida por Salah ad-Din (Saladino) y desarrollada por los gobernantes egipcios posteriores. Great experience and very knowledgeable and personable tour guide Bessant! Would highly recommend
It is a journey into the Muslim and Christian past of Cairo. Our guide Dina guided us through the Coptic churches and the mosque with a lot of vigour and great knowledge. An impressive tour that we are happy to recommend.
Dina was such an amazing guide! She really helped to provide context to the sights and made the experience more enjoyable.
Bassant was an excellent guide. We enjoyed our morning!
Very interesting and educational day. Took in the mosque and the military museum. Our guide was very informative and took the time to explain everything with an interesting angle. Thanks for a nice tour.
The tour was great, perfect for our first morning in Cairo. We were picked up at our hotel promptly and the tour took about 3.5 hours. Our guide, Joseph, was very knowledgeable, helpful and courteous. He explained everything and answered all of our questions. He spoke English well and clearly. I would definitely recommend this tour.
We had a fantastic time on this tour. Our guide was Bassant, and I highly recommend her! We were two adults, and she picked us up from our hotel and described the city and neighborhoods on the way to the citadel. She helped us to the ticket counter and we paid with Visa. We spent about 1.5 hours at the citadel with great explanations of the mosques, monuments, culture, history, and the police museum. She is very knowledgeable of history. We had time afterwards to cater our visit and chose to visit the church of St Simon, for an extra 20 USD per person. We felt very safe with her and our driver Mario. It was a great experience and wish we had more time with them but had to leave for an event. It is clear they would add on more time for a small fee if we wanted to see other areas.
Cairo is a city rich with history. But, too often viaitors jump from major attraction to major attraction without getting the context. Simone is a great guide, who provides that critical context, so you understand not just “what” you are looking at, but the historical “why” context. With 8 centuries of history, the Citadel has served numerous roles, and is also an incredible showcase of Islamic architecture. Upon Simone’s suggestion, we added a visit to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization a unique museum housing the sarcophagi of 20 Egyptian pharaohs. I recommend this tour and, in particular, Simone as a guide.
Traveled as a solo female traveler, and requested for female guide if possible. They managed to arrange it with Hager. 😀 The tour with her was easy going, and she filled me in with stories of the past, history of the churches etc. I had an enjoyable day with her, and really appreciated her knowledge on the churches!
A great day! Initially our tour was to only visit the Mosque of Muhammed Ali. We paid a bit extra as we still had the rest of the day and wanted to see the other mosques in the area. We also visited the Mosque-Madrasa of Sultan Hassan and Al-Rifa’i Mosque. A huge thankyou to our tour guide, Hoda, who made this day extra special. Her knowledge, kindness and patience made our day even better. She was great company, and made us feel very welcome. I highly recommend this tour if you’re ever in Cairo and want to visit the mosques in the citadel and explore the histories of them.
