Beautiful drive through the mountains, very windy road to the destination. Dragon is very nice and informative. Learned about his family and making prosciutto and sausage. Had a nice charcuterie board with family made wine. Delicious food and drink. We really enjoyed our afternoon!! Highly recommend!!
Excellent tour where we not only learned about the history of Montenegro but also saw a lot of the beautiful sights. Our guide Alex picked us up at our cruise port. He was in constant communication with us up until pick up. He drove us to key photo spots along the way to his family home. When we arrived we were greeted by his uncle, had a tour of the smoke house and learned how their prosciutto is made. They also toured us through an area in the home which is 300 yrs old. We ate meats and cheeses tasted homemade wine and other moonshine liquor that was homemade. We learned a lot about the country its vast history and got to see a broad area of the countryside. When the tour ended Alex was kind enough to walk us to a local restaurant where we were meeting friends for lunch and shopping. The tour was 3.5 hrs and Alex ensured we made it back to our cruise ontime. We also bought prosciutto and dried sausage from him to take home with us. It was vacuum sealed so its easily transported home. I strongly recommend this tour!!
Great experience!!! Wonderful to learn of the area by a local. So much tradition!!!!! Everything was wonders, I would not change a thing. Great seeing the connection between father and son and learning of their business.
The family made prosciutto was amazing with local wine. We got to see the family smokehouse and prosciutto aging operations.
Dragan gave us a wonderful full-day private tour of Montenegro, customized around exactly what we wanted to see. He was extremely knowledgeable about the country’s geography, history, and culture, and explained everything in excellent English. When we encountered some personal challenges, he was gracious, patient and beyond flexible. Our day included Old Town Kotor, the Serpentine Road, Lovćen, and a memorable lunch at his family home in Njeguši. He showed us his family’s smokehouse, introduced us to local wine and rakija, and helped us appreciate the village’s famous prosciutto and cheese traditions. He also dropped us at the top of the Serpentine Road, where we rode the alpine coaster, which was so much fun, and then took the gondola down to the bottom, where he was waiting for us. He was responsive, thoughtful, and a pleasure to spend the day with. The tour truly deepened our appreciation for this beautiful country. We highly recommend Dragan to anyone considering a private tour in Montenegro.
This was a once in a lifetime experience, so happy to have selected this tour. Dragon is the real deal with his driving skills and an incredible host. His tour was so heartwarming and genuine. The homemade sausage, prosciutto, wine, cherry brandy with the charcuterie board was definitely the highlight. Loved the relaxing patio with grape vines and flowers. Truly a beautiful and authentic experience.
This is a wonderful private tour with Dragan. You are driven up the mountain while given the history of Kotor, and are able to take some beautiful photos on route to Dragon's family home. We were given a tour and explanation of the process of curing their prosciutto. We were then given a lovely plate of prosciutto, cheese and bread to eat while relaxing and taking in the beautiful surroundings. This was such a lovely tour, and Dragan was a perfect tour guide! I highly recommend this tour.
The experience was fantastic! 5 stars doesn't give the tour enough credit, the people were lovely and very very helpful, and even offered extra meat after we finished ours. They made sure we weren't in a rush and helped with the lovely photos taken. Overall, when I next come back to Montenegro, I will be doing this tour again.
Thank you very much for your kind words, we are glad you enjoyed the tour and we hope to see you again.
Dragan also offers a tour through Tours by Locals that includes a walking tour of Old Town Kotor and a visit to his family home. It was perfect for our one-day cruise visit. Dragan deserves 10 out of 5 stars for that tour. He gets 5 of 5 stars as a tour guide: he is engaging, knowledgeable, and professional as a guide, sharing his enthusiasm for both his city and the surrounding countryside. The scenery on the ride up the mountain is gorgeous and his conversation was truly enlightening about life in Kotor and Montenegro. His walking tour of old Kotor was equally enjoyable. Additionally, Dragan deserves another 5 stars as a host. In his family village, he introduced us to his other business of smoking prosciutto and then treated us to a feast: smoked meats, local cheeses, local wine and brandy, and homemade bread and cake. While we ate, he demonstrated some of the handmade family heirlooms and spoke about life in the villages. Absolutely a tour not to miss!
Dear Jim, Thank you for your wonderful comment and I'm glad you enjoyed the tour. I hope you will have the opportunity to visit our beautiful country again.
It was a great day with Dragan, starting with the professional communication before the trip. He has and told a lot about your country, made cool stops for photos. His family welcomed us warmly.
