La primera parada de su recorrido de medio día por Taipéi es el mundialmente famoso Museo del Palacio Nacional, que también es uno de los museos más grandes del mundo. Con una colección de casi 700.000 piezas de artefactos y obras de arte chinos antiguos, el museo muestra 8.000 años de historia del arte chino que abarca múltiples dinastías. Dos de las obras de arte más famosas que se exhiben son “la col de jadeíta” y “la piedra en forma de carne”, que son las visitas obligadas en el Museo del Palacio Nacional.
La siguiente parada es el Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, un impresionante monumento en memoria del fallecido presidente de la República de China, Chang Kai-shek. Para llegar a la sala principal, es necesario subir 89 escalones, que representan la edad de Chang Kai-Shek cuando murió. Aquí el cambio de la ceremonia de guardia tiene lugar cada hora en la hora a partir de las 09:00 en el salón principal.

I took this tour on an extended layover in Taipei as I wanted to make the most of my time and see the city. This half day tour was perfect and included three cultural stops. The National Palace Museum is huge and houses so many artifacts that it would be hard to see them all. Our tour guide was able to show us the most valuable and important pieces and provide history and stories behind them. We were able to see the changing of the guard at Memorial Hall and visit the beautiful Longshan Temple. James our tour guide was a wealth of knowledge and kept us on time. This tour is great for anyone pressed for time that wants a taste of Taipei.
