Viaja a través de 2.000 años de historia mientras visitas antiguos sitios romanos como el Muro de Adriano, Dere Street, Birdoswald Fort, Steel Rigg y pueblos históricos a lo largo de la frontera de Escocia e Inglaterra. Al continuar hacia el sur haremos una parada en el pintoresco Carter Bar, en el borde de los Montes Cheviot. Este punto de cruce entre Escocia e Inglaterra corre cerca de la antigua vía romana y ha formado la frontera entre los dos países durante los últimos 700 años.
El Muro de Adriano, la frontera más salvaje y más septentrional del antiguo Imperio romano. Seguimos la carretera que nos lleva a lo largo del lado sur de la muralla y nos detenemos en el Steel Rigg. Tendrá tiempo para caminar junto a la muralla y disfrutar del aislamiento que los soldados de la infantería romana habrían experimentado mientras protegían a su imperio de los "bárbaros" del norte.
* Entrada al Museo del Ejército Romano de Vindolanda (o al Fuerte Romano de Homesteads en caso de que Vindolanda esté cerrado) incluido en el precio del tour. Vindolanda es uno de los yacimientos arqueológicos romanos más importantes de Europa. Vindolanda significa césped blanco o campos blancos. Sabemos que el nombre romano del fuerte era Vindolanda debido a un altar levantado por los civiles en Vindolanda al dios Vulcano que fue encontrado durante las obras de drenaje en 1914. El altar se exhibe en el museo. El nombre Vindolanda también se ha descubierto en algunas de las tabletas de escritura. (cerrado en enero).
Tendrás un breve descanso en la ciudad balneario victoriana de Moffat, que atrajo visitantes en los siglos XVIII y XIX que buscan los beneficios para la salud de sus manantiales minerales. La ciudad también es famosa por el toffee Moffat, conocido por su sabor a mantequilla único y textura masticable. Desde Moffat, viajará hacia el norte, pasando por el Parque Regional de Pentland Hills en su camino de regreso a Edimburgo

Our guide, Stephen, was extremely knowledgeable and was great at answering any questions you had. I was very interested in the history of the Border Rievers, due to family history in that region. Stephen added extra details and one on one conversations to make sure all tours members got everything out of the tour that they wanted.
Stephan was a great tour guide! We really enjoyed the trip and our son will be incorporating it into his lesson plan as a teacher.
The pacing was perfect. We went exactly where we wanted, did not have to worry about renting a car, driving in a foreign country plus learned fascinating local details we would never had learned without our guide, Stewart, telling us.
This was a great experience. Our guide Jack was very knowledgeable, friendly, and a great sense of humor. Steel Rig was a great place, I chose not to climb, but did walk down to meet the wall. Vinolandia was spectacular. The museum was well worth the trip, let alone wandering through the site. It was great not feel rushed. Moffett was a cute town, just wish things were open.
Did the Haridan's Wall day tour with Stephen. Couldnt have asked for a better drive/tour guide for the day. While the sights are well worth it, Stephen's knowledge made the trip all the better. Can't thank him enough for giving us such a memorable experience.
Our guide, Jim Scott, was by far the best part of the entire tour! He is incredible. He had us laughing all day, we learned a lot of interesting and unique facts, and he made us feel like we had been lifelong friends. Jim made the tour interactive and engaging, and he also took the time to take everyone’s pictures. A big bonus: he is a professional photographer, so the pictures turned out amazing! I appreciate the hard work and effort that Jim puts in. His energy, enthusiasm, wit, and charm are genuine; he truly wants his passengers to have the best time. And that’s exactly what you’ll get with him. I’ve been on several Rabbie’s tours, and while they have all been great, Jim is the best of the best and definitely the most memorable. He sets the bar high, and it shows. Whoever is lucky enough to be on his tours will not be disappointed. Thank you, Jim! You elevated my trip and are someone I will never forget.
We had a great time at the Wall. Wendy, our driver/guide, was fantastic. She explained things along the way and was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend trip.
This was a great day! Our guide Jack was terrific and very knowledgable. We stopped at multiple locations for Hadrian's Wall, including Jedburgh and Cawfields and enjoyed the walk and the commentary. We also enjoyed the tour at the Roman ruins of Vindolanda. The bus was comfortable and Jack was a great driver and guide. He even gave us suggestions for authentic Scottish food and entertainment for our stay in Edinburgh.
Stephen was a súper guide, a raconteur who informed us about the history of the áreas we visited, especially the Román period in the British Isles. He told us plenty of Jones and stories that entertainment us . The Vinolanda site was impressive, as we’re the remnants of Hadrian’s Wall. The stop at Jedburgh village was interesting.
While the tour was good there is not enough time to do the guided tour, have lunch, visit the museum and spend time looking at the site. The best option is to byo your lunch before tour starts as the cafe on site is a long distance away from the site entrance and is slow to handle food orders. Also In our case because the tour starts so early be aware that you may not have time to have breakfast at your hotel and travel to the start point of the tour to be able to get there on time.
