Tour Gastronomico y Visita a Mercados en Oaxaca

This tour is hands down one of the best tours that we have done. Brian was an incredible tour guide and host. He had an in-depth knowledge of the food, the markets, and was happy to share with us. If you like culture and eating then this is for you!! We made our own tacos, are plenty of local cuisine, and tried countless things. Would do again.

For those who love tours such as these we know that the guide is the key to a great tour. Brian was one of the best guides we have had on our many journeys throughout the years. Brian was very informative, patient, kind and you knew that his kindness was genuine because even the vendors in the market had a smile on their face as they greeted him. The tour was so much fun and we learned so much about life in a market the size of this one. It’s like walking into another world where people have worked and spent the majority of their lives for generations inside the dark, warm and stuffy expansive labyrinth of food and goods; when the outside world and beautiful weather is separated only by a few layers of corrugated tin. The people inside are hardworking, kind, funny and could be considered the lifeblood of the bustling city outside. You not only need to go for the experience, but also for the stark reality of how some people live their entire lives and somehow remain happy doing so. Te amo Oaxaca.

Edgar was a fantastic guide, with a group of 8 i was impressed he was so perdonable and able to keep us all together. He took us to spots we never would have found as visitors and he did a great job at explaining the foods and making it an interactive experience.

Super authentic experience. You shop and eat where the locals eat. You walk through local market and spend time learning about different foods.

Exploring the markets with Brian was an unforgettable experience. He is incredibly informative and deeply knowledgeable about the local culture. Instead of just guiding us, Brian introduced us to local vendors and made us feel like a true part of the community. ​The market was a sensory explosion of delicious food and fresh raw ingredients. The absolute best part was shopping for our own items and getting to make our own tacos together—it was incredibly fun and hands-on. If you want an authentic taste of Oaxaca, definitely book with Brian!

We enjoyed our tour with Edgar and were absolutely full to the brim by the end of it! There is plenty of food, and it was a great experience going to the market visiting many stalls and vendors that we wouldn’t have otherwise been able to do, not being Spanish speakers. The market has a very local feel and we particularly enjoyed gathering different ingredients to make our own custom taco. It would have been helpful if the agenda for the afternoon was explained to us at the meeting point as we just seemed to move off and begin walking towards the market not knowing what were doing. While it didn’t run as smoothly as other experiences we had done in Oaxaca, we still enjoyed ourselves, particularly considering the cost to some other food tours available.

Our tour guide Edgar is very experienced and thoughtful and patiently guided us at the local market. We had a great time trying all the local delicacies such as the tacos and quesadillas. I highly recommend you to take part in this small group of foodie tour.
