**An Exceptional Culinary Journey Through Bordeaux** For anyone looking to experience Bordeaux beyond the standard tourist tracks, **Bordeaux in Bites** offers a deeply rewarding and thoughtfully curated experience. I am always seeking tours that prioritize substance and local insight, and this excursion delivered on every front. I took the tour on Thursday 11th of June, From our initial meeting, our guide, Alex, established an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere for our small group of six, inviting us to share our expectations for the day. Before the tastings even began, she grounded the experience in the city's rich history, sharing fascinating local anecdotes—such as our meeting point's past life as a Roman cemetery, and its surprising connection to the invention of the modern sardine can opener. The geography of the tour is exceptionally well planned, with all the stops located close together to allow for an easy, leisurely pace. The sequence of flavors is entirely logical, starting with a classic pairing of coffee and crisp, caramelized *cannelés* at Cassonade. From there, we visited Boulangerie La Fabrique pains & bricoles to source excellent artisan breads and pastries, followed by Boucherie Bouche, which features an impressively extensive and high-quality selection of traditional hams and pâtés. Our final market stop was Fromagerie Frécaut, home to an incredible array of cheeses. Rather than just offering samples, Alex enriched each stop with context, explaining the nuances of traditional French bread-making, the factors that influence cheese profiles, and the craftsmanship behind regional charcuterie. The tour culminated beautifully at a remarkably stylish local wine shop. Because a proper French meal relies entirely on the relationship between food and wine, arranging the tastings this way was a perfect choice. While Alex expertly assembled our gathered market provisions into elegant platters, the sommelier, Tom, introduced us to a series of highly intelligent pairings. The selected pours beautifully elevated the flavors of the food; the experience was compelling enough that I gladly purchased a bottle of Graves to take home. Throughout the afternoon, Alex managed the group with effortless hospitality, ensuring every guest felt engaged and accommodated, including seamlessly providing thoughtful alternatives for vegan participants. For food and wine enthusiasts seeking an authentic, educational, and delicious perspective on the city, The nicest touch was the summary of the tour with recommendations of things to do in Bordeaux. *Bordeaux in Bites* comes highly recommended.
This was a lovely tour! It was incredibly hot outside, so our guide, Alexandra, modified our tour a bit so that we stayed more indoors, in air conditioned space. I really appreciate this kind of consideration! She was also incredibly passionate about teaching us the history of Bordeaux, and told compelling stories! Thank you Alexandra for this memorable experience! Hope to come back to Bordeaux when the weather is better!
Hello Katrina and thank you! Indeed, it was incredibly hot the day of your tour and I'm so glad you chose to brave the heat. Thanks to Alexandra L.'s quick thinking and minor tweaks, she was able to keep you comfortable. Luckily, the majority of the tour took place in an air-conditioned wine shop : ) I'm so glad you enjoyed the tour nonetheless and would highly recommend the experience. Wishing you all the best, Diane Rovner, Bordeaux in Bites Food Tours
A food tour with Aurélien is probably the best way to explore the old town of Bordeaux if you enjoy to discover small artisanal businesses, local delicacies and - of course - carefully chosen wines from the Bordeaux region. Aurélien strew in loads of (fun)facts about the city, so the tour is not only a pleasure for your taste buds but we also learnt a lot about the city's history, how to properly experience wines, and pairing flavours. Tip: Book the tour at the beginning of your Bordeaux holiday, as you'll want to revisit all the places Aurélien takes you to - so make sure you have enough time for that!
My wife and I signed up for this tour during a week long stay in Bordeaux. Our guide was Alex, who quickly made a small group of strangers feel comfortable and at ease. The tour involved Alex bringing us to local shops where she picked up baguettes, cheese & meat that we would sample during our wine tasting. As we moved about en route to our wine tasting, Alex shared some local history. We finished up in a wine shop, enjoyed the food gathered en route, washed down with our wine tasting while we chatted. As we ate and drank Alex provided more information on the food and a wine guru gave us insights into the wines we were tasting. Alex was an excellent guide and we had a great time. For me this is must do if you ever visit Bordeaux.

Alex was our tour guide and the tour was fantastic! He is very knowledgeable about food, wine, cheese, history and architecture in Bordeaux. I was surprised by how much there is to know about cheese. The food samples were abundant, the walking was easy with lots of breaks.
