Es el tercer edificio más grande de Teotihuacán, una antigua ciudad mesoamericana cuyas ruinas se encuentran en México. El edificio consta de siete cuerpos de talud-tablero y parte de su fachada occidental fue decorada a principios del siglo III con esculturas que representan a la Serpiente Emplumada, una de las deidades más antiguas e importantes de los pueblos mesoamericanos, posteriormente llamada Quetzalcóatl.
La Pirámide del Sol se utilizaba principalmente con fines ceremoniales y religiosos. Se cree que se utilizaba para llevar a cabo rituales relacionados con el sol, la lluvia y la fertilidad, ya que estos elementos eran fundamentales para la cosmovisión de la cultura teotihuacana. Además, su ubicación en el centro de la ciudad y su imponente presencia la convirtieron en un punto focal para la comunidad, donde se realizaron importantes ceremonias y eventos. Es una de las estructuras más emblemáticas de la civilización precolombina en Mesoamérica. Esta pirámide es la más grande de Teotihuacán y una de las más grandes de Mesoamérica, reflejando la importancia de esta civilización en su momento.
La Pirámide de la Luna marca el límite norte de la Calzada de los Muertos, lo que le da un significado altamente simbólico, y es el elemento más notable de uno de los espacios urbanos más armoniosos de la ciudad, la llamada Plaza de la Luna. Este gran espacio, rodeado de 13 cimientos con características arquitectónicas típicas de Teotihuacán y que alguna vez fueron pintados por completo, fue un escenario inmejorable para rituales públicos. A los pies de la pirámide se encuentra la Estructura A, enmarcada por dos cimientos, en cuyo interior hay nueve altares dispuestos en las paredes más uno en el centro, que simbolizan las direcciones cardinal e intercardinal y el centro del universo.
Un espacio donde hablamos de temas relacionados con el trabajo de la obsidiana y la grandeza, oferta y diversificación del Valle de Teotihuacán. Piezas hechas a mano en el Valle de Teotihuacán, creadas por artesanos y diseñadas con gran profesionalismo y cuidado. En este punto podrás tener una explicación amplia de una de las plantas más representativas y originales de México que benefician al ser humano, "el maguey", que ha sido una de las plantas más utilizadas desde los antiguos mesoamericanos. De él se obtienen algunas bebidas embriagantes como el pulque o el aguamiel. Cabe señalar que el uso de esta planta se remonta a la época prehispánica. Desde entonces, fue famosa no solo por las bebidas producidas a partir de ella, sino también por sus muchas propiedades medicinales.
Aquí disfrutaremos de una comida buffet, acompañada del espectáculo de danza prehispánica o música de mariachi. En este lugar podrás disfrutar de la deliciosa cocina mexicana, este buffet está cubierto por nosotros, pero debes tener en cuenta que las bebidas y la propina del wa ITer no están cubiertas, así que por favor considéralo.

Tomás made this one of the best tour experiences we've ever had. The tour company was very responsive to our questions before the trip, which set a great tone from the start. He picked us up punctually at 7am and reached out the night before to make sure we were prepared — he even brought an umbrella for my fair-skinned daughter, who came home without a single sunburn. What really set him apart was his flexibility. When I decided mid-tour to walk the Avenue of the Dead rather than drive to the Sun Pyramid, he rolled with it completely without making us feel rushed or like we were disrupting anything. Despite that, he still made sure we saw everything the tour had to offer. His knowledge of the site was impressive and he kept sharing context and history throughout the day. The day ran very long — entirely due to our own pace — and he stayed professional and warm the entire time through a very late return drive. Couldn't recommend him more highly.

My wife and I were picked up by our driver about two hours away from our excursion. The ride was smooth and entertaining to talk to our driver. He offered to stop to get breakfast if needed. Once at the excursion we met our tour guide who was one of the excavators on site. He was very knowledgeable and spoke both English and Spanish very well. We were really happy with our tour. Definitely wear comfortable clothes, shoes and a hat. Not many places to find shade.

What a spectacular experience this was! We couldn’t have asked for better hosts than Josué and Monserrat. This was a very special journey exploring the history and culture of the wonder that is Teotihuacan. Our guides made it exceed our expectations. Everything was smooth and comfortable from the very first moment. Thanks to our new friends in Monserrat and Josué, we left Teotihuacan with greater knowledge and appreciation for the beauty of this magical place. Also, we want to say that, from our perspective, this tour offered excellent value from private transportation to excellent food and, of course, the unforgettable tour — all included in the price. My trip to see the Theotihuacan archeological site and pyramids was terrific! Our driver was excellent, very safe and very friendly. He offered educational videos to watch regarding Mexican culture and history. Our tour guide at Theotihuacan was also fantastic. He was very friendly and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this experience. Be advised it’s roughly 2.5 hour drive each way to and from Queretaro. Bring a wide brim hat and lots of water.

The driver went out of his way to help me. Gave us information on the way down. The guide was very knowledgeable and the length of time at the pyramids was just right. Lunch was very nice. A long day but well worth it.

I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Be advised that it is a 2.5 hour car ride both ways to and from. Our driver was very good, very safe and super friendly too. Our tour guide Alberto was excellent, and very knowledgeable. He works at the archeological site so he knows of what he speaks. The gift shop and restaurant stops on the way home are very enjoyable. Well worth it for me. Highly recommend.

We had an amazing time on this tour. The driver, Josué was on time, friendly and spoke great English. He was accommodating and clear the whole tour. The site was absolutely amazing and unforgettable. And it was made even better by our guide, Tomás. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, engaging and fun. He spoke very clear English and brought additional illustrations of the site, historical photos and more that added such rich context to the history of the site. We felt very lucky to have him as our guide. The only downside to this part of the tour was that once it was over, we didn’t have any time to explore the site on our own. We had to move on to the next portion of the tour. We could have spent much more time exploring and contemplating the history of the site on our own. However the next section of the tour; the obsidian workshop was fantastic. We received a private demonstration of how the crafts are made, got samples of some delicious tequila and had access to a spectacular shop with lots of beautiful crafts. We were glad that we were able to pick up a couple of souvenirs from the smaller stands while we were at the site to support them too, but again we had very little time to actually browse there. This is understandable given the time it takes to get to and from Queretaro and to lunch. Finally the buffet lunch was good, there was plenty of food and we only had to pay for drinks and the waiters tip. Josué got us back safely at about 5pm. Overall excellent tour and we would absolutely recommend it to anyone, especially those who love ancient history.
