One more thing I really like about audio guides is that they don’t disappear after the visit. My time at Notre-Dame felt very quick, and honestly, I left with the feeling that I had missed a lot and didn’t really remember enough. Maybe it was the day, maybe the place itself, maybe just me. But that is exactly why this format works so well for me: the guide stays on my phone, and I can listen to it again later, as many times as I need. The information collected by the authors is genuinely interesting, and the way it is told makes it easy to listen to. I never loved history that much when I was younger, but with guides like this, I actually enjoy hearing it.
Notre Dame does not accept Viator audio tours, so it was horrible and embarrassing and I had to do what I should have done in the first place - buy the tours on site.

I bought 2 tickets to visit Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. €15 for the 2 tickets. Upon arriving at the Cathedral, I was told that only tickets from the official cathedral website were valid. I was not given a special tour. And I spent €15 for nothing. IT'S A SCAM

Know that the audio service is only online— NOT to be found at the cathedral!!!🙁 We expected to find audio headphones when we got to the cathedral.

TouringBee is a digital self-guided audio tour: after purchase, you receive instructions to download the app and listen on your own phone with your own headphones. There’s no physical pickup point and no equipment to collect at the cathedral. The good news: your audio guide remains available for 1 year from purchase, so you can still use it another time — no cathedral headphone treasure hunt required.

Notre Dame visit is a must. But unfortunately we couldn’t locate the pick up point for the headsets. We enjoyed the visit anyway. We could have paid for headsets inside the cathedral.
I paid for 2 for entry on the day and was given a link to the Cathedral site which was fully booked so a waste of money. The Cathedral simply aims to stagger entries and by going early we entered easily. They do not accept the pass I had been issued with. Nor do they like the audio guide that was a download for one phone. Entry is free and the Cathedral issues their own audio guides where the money goes to the Cathedral which is what we bought. They do not want people to use Viator or similar booking sites and there is no need.

The audio tour was very informative and well executed. Trying to talk to a human at Touring Bee is impossible, they only use email, so quick answers are not a reality. I was able to get some explanations from Viator and was able to get the audio tour in time to be useful. Once you understand the methodology, things went well. Read the descriptions carefully.
The tour begins with a section on the Crypte Archéologique de l'İle de la Cité. Be aware that entry to the Crypte (13 euro when we were there) is not included in the tour cost. There was a lot of good information but sometimes I wished it was explaining the nuances of what I was actually seeing as well as the back story.
We're glad you found the tour so informative — even if at times it felt more like "previously on the Île de la Cité..." than "look at this stone." Just to clarify: entrance to the Archaeological Crypt of the Île de la Cité is not included in the audio guide price. The guide itself is a separate digital tour, and tickets for the crypt are purchased separately if you wish to visit it. Admission to Notre-Dame is free for everyone. You're right, sometimes travelers want less grandiose historical drama and more details like "what am I seeing right now?" We hope that if you try one of our audio guides in another city, you'll find the balance is closer to perfect, and your rating will improve next time.
We didn't have access to the audio guide, we tried but we couldn't. Missing a better explanation of how to use it, I think it would be better to visit with the audio guide.
