Unreal sunrise tour. Our guide, Nate, was knowledgeable, polite, and funny! He really made the whole trip special. We saw the Tikal ruins and the history came alive in front of us. Plus we saw monkeys!
Great tour. The guide was knowledgeable and pleasant company throughout the hours we spent in that beautiful place. Lunch and coffee were perfect.
Our guide Alejandro was 10/10 🐐 Showed us everything in a timely manner yet still had more than enough time to explore the park by ourselves. Would recommend 100%
We were in Tikal and Yaxha with Tikalgo, and they are a very serious agency. They are punctual, organized, and the staff at the agency and the guides are super friendly. I highly recommend booking tours with them; you can count on them and you will have an incredible experience.
Learn from my mistake: don’t book your Tikal tour with this company. They charge premium prices for basically the exact same experience you can get from local tour agencies, hotels, or hostels in Flores for almost half the cost. The only real extras with Tikal Go are a smaller group size and a good tour guide. They also include a basic breakfast — 2 chicken sandwiches, 1 boiled egg, 1 apple, and a small bottle of water. But honestly, that still doesn’t justify paying an extra $60–$80 compared to other tours offering nearly the same experience. Save your money and book your tour once you arrive in Flores. Plenty of local agencies and hostels offer similar tours for much cheaper.
Thank you very much for your comment and for sharing your opinion. We completely understand that there are cheaper options available in Flores, and that every traveler has a different budget and way of traveling. However, price differences in Tikal are not only about “the same tour.” You mentioned yourself that the vehicle was good, the guide was very good, the day was enjoyable, and the group was small. Those details are precisely part of what makes the experience different. At Tikal Go, we operate legally with all permits, licenses, and insurance for our vehicles and operations fully up to date. We also work with certified guides and pay our staff fairly and legally so tourism can remain sustainable for the local community. Unfortunately, many informal agencies in the area operate without insurance, permits, or proper standards, which is one of the reasons they can offer much lower prices. Additionally, the difference is not simply “$60–$80 more,” since our tours also include park entrance tickets and other operational costs that many cheaper tours either exclude or reduce in quality. For us, tourism is not only about offering the cheapest option possible. It is also about creating a safe, sustainable, and responsible operation that benefits local people and helps preserve Tikal and the destination for the future. We truly respect your opinion, and we appreciate that you still recognized the quality of the guide, transportation, and overall organization of the experience.
Our tour to Tikal was great. We were picked up at our hotel and had a comfortable ride in a nice air conditioned van. Our guide, Omar, was very experienced and knowledgeable about the Mayan history and culture. He gave us choices along the way in terms of what we wanted to see and trails we wanted to take. The included lunch was also very nice inside the National Park.
By far one of the best experiences of my life. I’ve wanted to visit Tikal for decades so this was a dream come true. And I picked an excellent tour company. The guide, Omar, was excellent and very knowledgeable about the archaeological sites. Highly recommend!!
I had an excellent experience with Tikal Go Tours on my trip to Tikal. Our guide Nate was fantastic, very professional and knowledgable - he answered all our questions with great detail. Touring in a small group truly heightened the experience. Sunset was a spectacular moment. I’d definitely tour with this company again.
Pros: Pick up/drop off at hotel, guide was very knowledgeable, lunch was very good and group was 8 people in total. To improve: Offer at least one bottle of water when you enter van. Guide did not review safety measures and did so on the surface when asked (e.g., if you see a snake, etc). Have guide introduce everyone in group - it was a little awkward at first.
Thank you very much for your feedback. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the positive aspects of the tour, and we sincerely hope they outweighed the points you mentioned for improvement. Regarding the water, we understand your suggestion. For our group tours, we do not include bottled water as part of our commitment to reducing plastic waste, especially in a sensitive environment like Tikal. Instead, we always recommend that guests bring their own reusable bottle (“pachón”), which helps us minimize environmental impact. In terms of safety guidelines, we do send an email the day before with general information and recommendations. While it’s not practical to go through every possible scenario in the jungle during the tour, please rest assured that all our guides are fully trained to handle any situation. This is also one of the reasons we keep our groups small (around 10 people), so the guide can properly assist everyone if needed. About group introductions, this can vary depending on the dynamic of each group. In many cases, we prefer to allow interactions to happen naturally rather than structuring them at the beginning. Our intention is to create a more relaxed and genuine atmosphere, where connections develop organically rather than feeling imposed. We’re sorry if any of these aspects affected your experience. It’s important to keep in mind that group tours are quite different from private tours, and sometimes the experience depends a lot on the group dynamic as well. Thank you again for your comments—they help us continue improving.
We visited Tikal on January 21st with our guide Obdulio, and it ended up being one of the most special experiences of our trip. Walking into the jungle in complete darkness and then suddenly seeing the sunrise over those ancient temples… it’s something really magical. Obdulio was an amazing guide — genuinely passionate, a great storyteller, and someone who really brings the place to life. It felt like we were traveling back in time, understanding the history and everything that led up to what we see today. It’s definitely a more expensive tour, but honestly, it’s worth every extra dollar. We did Yaxhá with another company and this experience was on a completely different level. Kind of wish we had booked more tours with them!
