You will read other reviews about the heavy salesmanship at the rug school, which is true; but the overall experience of the ancient city was phenomenal. We did end up with a rug and are pleased with the price and quality. Anyone interested in hand crafts should find the rug school amazing. It is very slippery at Ephesus and sharp stones everywhere if you fall.

First of all our tour guide was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable of the area and its history. He customized the tour to our liking including a no pressure rug tour which was simply amazing. I feel so bad that I don’t remember his name but we called him MR G…I KNOW HIS NAME STARTED WITH A “G”!!! Would highly recommend this tour as well as the guide.

Absolutely everything! Demos and visits the rug and ceramic places and of course Ephesus! Haken went beyond our expectations!
Had the best day/tour with Andrew! Picked us up at the Izmir port and toured us through Ephesus and surrounding sites, and ended with a fantastic local lunch and demonstration of handmade rugs. Andrew was extremely knowledgeable about everything and had great explanations and answers to our many questions. My Mom requires a cane and/or wheelchair, and he was very patient and accommodating. Highly recommended instead of the cruise excursion.
