Tour de Snorkel en Isla Mágica

No need to fear the cold water! My wet suit kept me incredibly warm—the gear was all high quality. Loved seeing nudibranchs, especially the sea lemon. Wish I could’ve stayed in the water even longer! Lovely team, highly recommend.

My husband and I had the most amazing time snorkeling in Sitka with Selkie Snorkels. It ended up being just the two of us with our guide, Lea, who gave us a truly VIP experience. Although we are experienced snorkelers/scuba divers, I was a little nervous about Alaskan cold waters. I quickly realized that the provided equipment - 7 mil wetsuit, hood, booties, and gloves (along with mask and snorkel) - kept me adequately warm in the water. The beach entry was easy to enter and the swim around Magic Island was in fact magical. We saw so many cold water animals: sea stars, crabs, rock fish, bull kelp, fish, and more. The visibility was decent (about 20 feet) and the surf mild (only the occasional small swell from distant boat activity). Plus, Lea is a very knowledgeable biologist who shared a wealth of information about the environment and its animals. She is also a very well prepared and capable guide with all the necessary safety equipment and abilities. She truly made our adventure a ton of fun! And the hot cocoa at the end was a nice touch. We highly recommend this snorkel excursion!

So much fun to be in the Alaskan water! We went end of August and were not cold. You are provided a 7 mm wetsuit (jellyfish resistant), hood and boots. Juliet was very sweet and educational! It was just us on the tour and she made sure we were comfortable, safe and having a great time!

When we found via YouTube that we could snorkel in Alaska, we were incredulous and immediately wanted to sign-up. However, with an 8 and 10-year-old who were equally as excited for the opportunity, we had questions. A quick email and our questions were promptly, and warmly, answered, giving us great confidence in the trip to come. Fast forward, and yet again we became the needy customer when our youngest broke his arm at home before the trip. Afraid we'd have to cancel, we again emailed Selkie Snorkels and yet again received a prompt and encouraging reply: as long as we would work with them, they would work with us, and we'd find a way to snorkel. Fast forward to our trip and 24 hours before the excursion we received one of the most detailed pre-trip emails ever, followed by a group text to ensure same day connectivity. When we arrived at their shop, they were patient and worked with us to find a solution for our youngest to not be left out or left cold despite his waterproofed cast. There were other guests but they helped us with all the difficulty that getting a cast into a wet-suit can cause. And that was all BEFORE the actual snorkeling! The site we snorkeled was amazing and provided amply beauty to behold. Our guide picked up several creatures for us to see up close and shared great information about the sea life. We would absolutely return and hands down recommend this opportunity to for a unique Alaskan experience!

Juliette and Leigh were INCREDIBLE tour guides for the day. We loved snorkeling around Magic Island and found the wetsuits kept us adequately warm while in the water. Our guides provided great explanations of what all the gear was, what we would be doing, animals we might see, and even facts about Sitka. We HIGHLY recommend this tour.

If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would. My partner had never snorkeled before and he had a hard time adjusting to the wet suit and snorkel. Lee was so patient and helped him feel comfortable, he eventually got in the groove and had a great time. You'll be plenty warm in the 7mm wetsuits, so don't miss this cool tour!

Snorkelling in Alaska with 2 of my kids. It was amazing. The hardest part is getting into the really thick wetsuit. Being able to experience Alaska in the water is incredible. Snorkelling in the Caribbean the fish are colorful, here the fish are mostly dark colors but the starfish, anemones and sea urchins are vibrant beautiful colors. Its an amazing experience!

I know what you are thinking….snorkeling in Alaska sounds crazy. Believe me when I say it was amazing. Gliding through a kelp forest and viewing the diversity of wildlife was spectacular! This was a memorable excursion…one that I will remember for a long time ( hopefully forever). Shout out to Lee for her patience and respect for the environment and all the amazing creatures living in these waters. The wet suits kept is warm…no one in our group was cold:)

Our snorkeling trip was incredible! The guides were fantastic, the water was beautiful, the wetsuits made it super comfortable in the water and we saw an abundance of marine life. It was an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommend!
