El edificio más famoso de Sintra es el Palacio de Pena. Construido en la década de 1840, en la cima de la colina, se puede ver fácilmente desde Lisboa y es uno de los palacios más fantásticos de Europa. El palacio es Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO y una de las Siete Maravillas de Portugal. Este palacio es una referencia máxima de la arquitectura romántica portuguesa.
Esta es una de las principales atracciones turísticas de Sintra. Este pueblo mágico con sus extravagantes jardines neo-manuelinos, soñado por un diseñador de ópera italiano, Luigi Manini, bajo las órdenes del magnate brasileño de piedras preciosas y transporte, António Carvalho Monteiro, conocido por Monteiro dos Millões.
El Palacio de Monserrate es una hermosa casa señorial del siglo XIX. Este palacio extravagantemente decorado combina estilos arquitectónicos portugueses, árabes e indios y es uno de los edificios más hermosos de Sintra. El palacio fue encargado por Francis Cook, un barón textil inglés, que utilizó la finca como un retiro de verano. Los terrenos del Palacio de Monserrate esconden jardines especializados y exóticos con plantas no autóctonas. Este palacio es el más pequeño de los tres palacios de Sintra, pero es, con mucho, el más decorativo y hermoso.
En el punto más occidental de Europa, donde termina la tierra y comienza el mar. La montaña de Sintra se encuentra aquí abruptamente con el océano Atlántico en un acantilado de más de 100 m de altura. La capa es barrida por el viento, e incluso en medio del verano puede ser lo suficientemente frío como para una chaqueta o un suéter. Antonio was a great guide for the day. We visited all main Sintra sites in the morning and headed to Cape Cabo and a fantastic beach in the afternoon. It was so easy being driven around on the private tour as we could spend time where we wanted. Would recommend beating the crowds via this way of touring. Make sure you check when and where to book palace and other areas prior to the tour.

This is a good option for those who have a sense of what they would like to see and don’t need/want a guide to tell them about the sites you see. Mostly, this was an extremely convenient and personalized ride service - where you didn’t have to worry about how to get to the next site and you had great help navigating where to purchase tickets for the site.

We really enjoyed the ‘full-day’ tour of the entire Sintra area with Classic Sintra Tours. Although the historic area is crowded were given great direction from Antonio our guide and driver for the day and he told us where to go and what to visit so as to maximise our experience. The 5 lakes of the Pena Palace is a great place to start and walk up to the Palace in the cool air and shade. (Especially if it’s hot) Start early! The admission fee for the Palace was 12 EUR each and as there are many renovations inside and to keep your time, we felt an inside tour unnecessary. The views from the top are great. We also had a timed ticket for the Quinta da Regaleira and we walked there from the old town. The visit was well worst it, stunning. Antonio was very relaxed and informative and made our day very pleasant. Great local understanding and personalised service.

Antonio was a superb personal tour guide! Born in Sintra, he knew the whole area in detail and was keen to share it with us. He gave helpful explanations about which walking routes to take at the castle, palaces and seaside locations and kept us on schedule without ever making us feel rushed. The lunchtime recommended restaurant suited our food preferences perfectly. We packed an awful lot into our day and were so grateful for Antonio's flexibility, which made it truly a day to remember always! Highly recommended.

During our full day tour, we had the opportunity to choose exactly which sights we wanted to explore. Our tour guide, Antonio, was familiar with the area which made the experience feel seamless and personalized, ensuring we could see as many sights as time allowed. The vehicle was simple but comfortable and well-suited for the tour. During our visit, his familiarity with the area proved especially helpful, as the region was still recovering from several storms that had closed some routes to certain sights. One memorable moment was when we asked for a beachside spot for fresh fish—he led us to the perfect gem, Nortada Restaurant in Colares. With stunning views and delicious food, it was the ideal addition to an already unforgettable day. My friends and I truly had an incredible tour. Highlights? The Initiation Well at Quinta da Regaleira and the grounds, Monserrate Palace and beautiful grounds (really liked their little outdoor/indoor cafe), National Palace, and exploring the Cabo da Roca area with our picturesque lunch spot Something we would do differently? nothing comes to mind

We had the most wonderful day with Antonio. Six of us took the train from Lisbon and met Antonio outside the station.
