Senderismo en el Volcán Iztaccíhuatl desde Puebla
Descripción
El Parque Nacional Izta Popo tiene 2 volcanes en un mismo sitio. Hemos diseñado rutas de senderismo para que puedas disfrutar de las increíbles vistas del volcán inactivo Iztaccíhuatl y el volcán activo Popocatépetl. Nuestro guía local te explicará la flora y fauna del lugar. Vive y respira el aire puro a unos 3,600 msnm y 4,300 msnm. Es un excelente lugar para compartir una maravillosa experiencia solo, con amigos o familia. El tour incluye transporte ida y vuelta. Escoge entre: Nivel 1. La caminata comienza a unos 3,600 msnm y termina a 3,980 msnm. El sendero es marcado arenoso. El total es de 8-9km aprox de los cuales 4 km son subida moderada y 4km de bajada. Nivel 2. El total es de 14km de los cuales 4km son subida y el resto bajada con pocos metros de subida moderada. El sendero es marcado en su mayoría arenoso con vista de ida del Izta y vista de regreso del Popo Nivel 3. Es una caminata de 7km a una altura de entre 4,000 y 4,500msnm en donde habrá arena, piedra.

Itinerario
Nuestra aventura comienza en el Paso de Cortés. En este punto dejamos el vehículo, nuestro guía certificado nos da las indicaciones y nos preparamos para la caminata. Tenemos 3 opciones de rutas con distintos niveles de dificultad. Pues escoger una, cualquiera de las 3 opciones. Todas han sido cuidadosamente diseñadas para que no te pierdas las maravillosas vistas que ofrecen los volcanes.
En este tour puedes escoger entre 3 diferentes niveles: Nivel 1= En este recorrido caminamos por senderos trazados hacia el volcán Izta. Es una caminata armoniosa en donde llegaremos a un mirador en el que podrás admirar la belleza del Iztaccíhuatl y el Popocatépetl. Distancia de 9 a 11km, entre altitudes de 3,670 y 4,000 msnm. Desnivel 330m. Nivel 2 = En esta ruta pasamos por una zona de manantiales y bosque, admirando las hermosas vistas que caracteriza este Parque Nacional. Tiene senderos no tan trazados, fuera de camino en pastizales y en ascenso. Distancia de 14.5 a 15km entre altitudes de 3,670 y 4,100 msnm con desnivel 580m. Nivel 3 = Caminaremos en una mayor altitud, a esta altura las vistas son panorámicas. Los senderos son de piedra, arena y pendientes. Esta ruta es conocida como la "Ruta de Portillos" en la que llegaremos al 2do o 3er portillo dependiendo de las condiciones atmosféricas. Distancia de 7 km entre altitudes de 3,900 y 4,300 msnm con desnivel 420m

My and my girlfriend got picked up at the chosen pick-up-point. Our guide Luis was really kind and enthousiastic about the environment during the drive. At the beginning of the hike he gave us some coffee/tea and had some time to get used to the altitude. The hike was great and we even saw a eruption from the volcano. Luis was kind and we had a lot of fun with him. We felt really safe.

We did the level 2 hike to Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl with Luis, and the experience was incredible. Luis was always super friendly, explained many things during the tour, and answered all our questions with great patience. The hike was impressive, the views are beautiful, and we went at our own pace the whole time, which made us enjoy the experience a lot. It is clear that Luis knows the area very well and loves what he does. We definitely recommend it and would do another hike with him.

We chose the level 2 and were challenged but Rafa knew when to stop and rest. We are 64 and 63 years old. If you are in good shape go for it. We made it and we’re only pushing it the last 4 km. We were lucky with the weather which Rafa said is good from Nov-Apr. Very scenic and glad we took the route that saw the waterfalls. Rafa did a great job getting us to see everything in a safe manner. He is a very experienced guide and guides all over Mexico and has experience around the world.

The guide was very nice and polite, and the excursion was conducted in a calm and pleasant manner. There wasn’t much commentary during the tour, which made sense given the nature of the area — the views were beautiful, but there was a very limited variety of plants and virtually no wildlife to see apart from birds. The route itself was very easy. Anyone who has done a few hikes before would find it quite comfortable and not physically demanding. Our main concern was the vehicle. The car was extremely small even for the group size of only 4 people,only two backpacks could have been placed in the trunk and two of us had to sit on temporary children’s seats. There was very little legroom, and due to the road conditions and numerous bumps, it was quite uncomfortable, with heads frequently hitting the rear window. There were also no handles to somehow hold yourself as those seats are not meant for drive like this. We switched seats on the way back, and everyone was able to experience that the conditions were quite uncomfortable for a two-hour drive each way. Overall, the guide was kind and professional, but improving the transportation would greatly enhance the experience.

Loved it! Friendly and knowledgeable guide and stunning views. Varm attire was essential as we started round sunrise. The early morning views and scenery was well worth the chill morning temperatures and 5 am departure from Puebla.
