Recorrido privado a pie por Matera, ciudad de la UNESCO y elegida Capital Europea de la Cultura 2019, uno de los lugares más sugerentes del sur de Italia. Descubre la historia de una ciudad tallada en rocas que fue habitada hasta el siglo XX. Tendrá la oportunidad de visitar una casa cueva recientemente abierta al público, y tener acceso a antiguas iglesias rupestres. Matera es un lugar único pero también una experiencia para vivir. Se reunirá con un guía turístico local y experto en el centro de la ciudad, donde comenzará el recorrido para descubrir este sitio de la UNESCO. Camine por los dos distritos principales excavados en las rocas donde hay casas cueva e iglesias rupestres. Durante este recorrido, admire la vista panorámica sobre el parque Murgia Materana desde los balcones y descubra los orígenes de Matera, una de las ciudades más antiguas de Europa. Luego, llega a uno de los puntos más altos de Sassi y visita la Catedral.

Sara was our tour guide and she was fantastic! We walked and saw all of Matera learning its history up to present day. She pointed out what to do and see in addition to what we saw as well as local recommendations for dining. The history of Matera and the Sassi is fascinating.
Book for morning. Gets very hot! Good walking shoes.. take water with you. Take a hat. Even on the morning.

This was a phenomenal tour. Sara was so informative and knowledgeable about the history. She is a local and 3rd generation living in Matera so it was obvious how much she loved it here. We stopped at the Porta Pistola and was able to go on a 1hr hike in the valley, which was also fantastic
