El hipogeo Materasum, también conocido como Matera Sotterranea, es un complejo excavado en la roca de toba. Este yacimiento puede describirse como una “ciudad bajo la ciudad”. ¡Realmente impresionante!
El Palazzo dell’Annunziata de Matera, ubicado en Piazza Vittorio Veneto, es el edificio que actualmente alberga la Biblioteca Provincial “Tommaso Stigliani”.
Un “palombaro” es una estructura subterránea diseñada para recoger y almacenar agua. El “Palombaro Lungo” de Matera se encuentra debajo de la Piazza Vittorio Veneto y se construyó en varias fases a partir del siglo XVI.
Cuando hablamos de los Sassi nos referimos a la parte histórica de Matera, dividida en tres zonas principales: el Sasso Barisano al noroeste, el Sasso Caveoso al sur y la Civita en el centro que los separa.
La Catedral de María Santísima de la Bruna y San Eustaquio, también conocida como Duomo de Matera, fue terminada en 1270 y se encuentra en la Civita, el punto más alto de la ciudad, donde se originó el primer asentamiento de los Sassi. En esta zona se encontraba anteriormente un monasterio benedictino dedicado a San Eustaquio, consagrado en 1082.
Casa Noha se encuentra en el barrio de Civita, una roca natural que separa los barrios de Sasso Caveoso y Sasso Barisano. Este edificio, que data de los siglos XVI y XVII, fue en su día la residencia de la noble familia de Noha.
Situado en el centro del Sasso Caveoso, más precisamente en el promontorio rocoso de Monterrone y está en parte excavado en la roca y en parte construido después del derrumbe de la bóveda ocurrido antes del siglo XVI.
Esta iglesia se encuentra en el corazón de los Sassi, justo en el Sasso Caveoso. En la fachada barroca hay tres nichos, en cuyo interior se encuentran las estatuas de San Pablo a la derecha, San Pedro a la izquierda y en el centro la Madonna della Misericordia.
La Iglesia del Purgatorio fue construida en estilo barroco y está dedicada a los difuntos y trata el tema de la muerte y la redención de las almas.

It was not practical for me. I prefer a guide in person
I had high hopes for this as we’ve used other walking tours with audio guides before. It quickly turned into a disappointment when the first point on the tour was literally a doorway where he could walk in and pay more money to see caves. After that it became more and more difficult to find our way because it uses Google maps, which may or may not be loading properly. The better products I’ve used integrate the GPS directions into the app, but instead, this one uses a webpage and it all looks the same. Each step of the way you can get lost in the labyrinth of Matera small roads. Too easy to take a wrong turn and lose the direction. Another serious failing in my opinion is that it’s very much like an academic lecture without many interesting facts or any sense of humour. Maybe I miss some of the interesting detail, but we gave up halfway through it because it was too frustrating, hard to see in the sun, and we spent most of our time looking at our phone trying to find out where we were instead of the incredible sites. I ended up just finding our way to different locations and googling the history.

We use Google Maps for navigation because we believe it's the simplest and most reliable system. Unfortunately, we're not responsible for the fact that beautiful Matera looks like a labyrinth (which is easily navigable with Google Maps 😉), nor for the sun 😅 I hope this answer helps other travelers! The best! History, guide, sights - incredible!
Superficial info for sites; fell short of potential. Mapping was difficult to follow despite cross referencing with google maps as instructed. Get a live guide and experience Matera.

Absolutely rubbish it was a scam. There was no one to meet. There was no instructions on how to listen to the tour. I have reported this to my bank.

Therefore, you won't meet a physical guide in person, but you can explore Matera at your own pace and at your own pace 😌. We sent you a message and an email shortly after booking (which were ignored), and you didn't even contact us to ask for assistance or how to use the digital guide; you simply decided to leave a negative review 😒. very practical audio guide for those who want to visit without constraints. The explanations are succinct but sufficient. The breakpoints are guided by Google Maps and arrive at the site, audio is launched or explanations are read. This makes it possible not to miss anything We made a first tour of the city in open access, and a second tour with audio guide , and it is still more interesting being guided.
