Es el recorrido ideal para aquellos que quieran experimentar la vivacidad de una ciudad costera enriquecida por un interesante patrimonio histórico-artístico, en compañía de un guía local, nacido y criado en Monopoli. Al final de la visita os espera una agradable sorpresa: la degustación de una rebanada de focaccia de Bari o de un panzerotto.

Itinerario
El recorrido comienza en Largo Plebiscito, a las puertas del centro histórico, caminamos por Via Garibaldi, hasta llegar a la Piazza Garibaldi, un lugar cargado de historia. Parada en el Castillo de Carlos V, situado en una de las partes más antiguas de la ciudad vieja. Caminando por el paseo marítimo, se pueden admirar los imponentes bastiones y la vista panorámica de la Puerta Vieja, con sus murallas fortificadas del siglo XVI. Visitaremos la Basílica de Maria SS. della Madia con su suntuoso interior, al que está ligada la leyenda del Icono de la Madonna della Madia. Pasaremos por algunas callejuelas características y terminaremos en la Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, el corazón palpitante de la ciudad nueva. ¡El valor añadido de este tour será el guía del Monopoly! Al final de la visita, se ofrecerá a degustar una rebanada de focaccia de Bari o un panzerotto frito u horneado. Valerie was perfectly able to explain the city, its history and all the important areas with examples of each historical aspect in an entertaining and relaxed way. We had so many questions and she was able to explain each issue clearly. The time spent learning with Valerie flew quickly. This was our first visit to Monopoli, Italy and Valerie was a wonderful hostess for our visit!

I had a wonderful experience on my Monopoli solo tour with Valeria. She has an extensive understanding of the history of Monopoli and Puglia. She is able to relate this to the architecture and economy through the years. I walked away with a deeper appreciation of the area and a few noteworthy stories to tell about the city. Communication setting up the tour via email was easy. It was a friendly and comfortable experience. I hope to see Valeria if I get to Puglia again.

This was one of if not the best tours I have ever taken and the best value ever! Valerie was an excellent guide and had a wealth of knowledge not only about the old city but of Italian history. Her English was terrific and easy to understand and she easily understood what we were saying. My maternal grandparents came to the United States from Monopoli in 1905 and I was very excited to take this tour. It was worth every penny. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in the history of the area.

This was the second private tour we did with Valeria - even more special because Monopoli is her hometown and she shared her memories of growing up there. We were so impressed with her knowledge of the city and region that we arranged to have a third tour with her in Alberobello. She's personable, knowledgeable, and charming! We had a wonderful walking tour of the historic center of Monopoli with Valeria. She was welcoming, friendly, engaging, and very knowledgeable about the history of the town from ancient times to the present day. She was able to point out details and share anecdotes that we never would have uncovered on our own. We have another day to explore the town and it will be more interesting for us now that we can view things with the historical and cultural framework that Valeria provided. She topped off our very enjoyable time together with a visit to her favorite bakery....one that we will certainly revisit. We highly recommend Valeria's tour walking through the old town of Monopoli.

We had an amazing private guided walking tour with Valeria in Monopoli. She grew up here, so her knowledge of the city and all the changes over time really brought the history to life. She shared so many fun and interesting facts that we never would have noticed on our own. The tour ended with a delicious surprise treat of fresh focaccia bread, which was the perfect way to finish. Valeria even pointed out details about the beautifully renovated church right in front of where we were staying, with our VRBO tucked into it and overlooking the sea. A wonderful experience that made Monopoli even more special!
