Itinerario
Después de conducir aproximadamente una hora y media (los tiempos dependen de la ubicación de su hotel). Durante esta primera etapa, les hablaré de la sucesión de acontecimientos que llevaron a Francia a ser ocupada por los nazis en 1940. Luego hablaremos de las operaciones de planificación y preparación para el desembarco del 6 de junio de 1944 y finalmente hablaremos de las hazañas. de los 225 hombres del segundo batallón de guardabosques del coronel Rudder.
Pararemos en el corazón de Omaha Beach en Saint-Laurent sur mer, donde podrás tomar algunas fotos y te sugeriré algunos restaurantes para que puedas tomar un almuerzo rápido antes de dirigirte a nuestra siguiente parada.
El cementerio americano de Colleville sur Mer es el lugar más visitado de las playas del Desembarco. Nos detendremos a ver, si lo deseas, un cortometraje que rinde homenaje a algunos soldados fallecidos en combate durante la Batalla de Normandía. En este lugar también será posible visitar un pequeño museo conmemorativo. Luego caminaremos con respeto entre las 9387 tumbas de los héroes que murieron para liberar a Europa.
En Longues-sur-Mer podemos detenernos para ver las casamatas que aún albergan los cañones de 155 mm que formaban parte del famoso Muro Atlántico instalado en Europa por los nazis a partir de 1942.
Pararemos en Arromanches les Bains para ver los restos del puerto artificial instalado por los aliados en los primeros días del asalto. Aquí nuevamente les explicaré la planificación e instalación de este gigantesco sitio necesario para el abastecimiento del ejército aliado.
Si lo deseas, regresaremos a tu hotel por las playas del desembarco hasta el sector este del asalto y así podremos cruzar el puente de Benouville rebautizado como puente de Pegasus en honor a un comando de la sexta división aerotransportada británica que se apoderó heroicamente del sitio la noche del 5 al 6 de junio de 1944. Luego regresaremos a su hotel.

Gilles is a very knowledgeable and professional tour guide, that we highly recommend for tours of the Le Havre and Normandy area. His knowledge of the World Wars is outstanding, and he shared information in a very easily understood way. Our party of six was unanimous in our appreciation for a tour well done. His English was excellent, his car was first class, and he was onetime and delivered the tour just as promised. We've enjoyed several excellent private tours but this tour was by far one of the best.

Gilles and his team were absolutely amazing!!!! We had 8 people total and two very comfortable, clean, well stocked cars (food and beverages), that made our trip from the cruise port to Normandy very relaxing. Along the way, Gilles told us about the history leading up to the Normandy invasion which was so very informative, even as a HS History teacher myself! The other car was able to hear all the info as well due to his communication set up…it was wonderful!!! We stopped at the Point du Hoc first and received his guided tour along the way! After that, he arranged lunch for our group that was super delicious! Next stop was Omaha Beach, then the cemetery, the Mulberry Harbors and the Atlantic Wall, finishing off with the gun emplacements!!!! It was absolutely an amazing day!!!! I can’t tell you how highly I recommend this tour!!!! All 8 people in our group agreed that this was their favorite tour on our 2 week British Isle cruise!!!

Gilles is amazing. What a great person! Our train trip to Caen had an unexpected incident on the track which caused us to have to go back to LeHavre. He drove there and picked us up. He brought croissant for the whole family. He had a smile on his face and truly enjoyed the day with us. Very accommodating, very friendly. I would not tour with anyone else after this! Trusted with my whole family including a 10 year old and he did not disappoint! Cannot say enough nice things about the tour and how informative and fun it was. I got to go inside a German Gun emplacement and stand on the actual beach where it happened and look toward the shore. Bucket list items get checked off here. Life changing! Merci Gilles!
