My friend and I had a private tour as nobody else booked it on this day. Pavlin is very knowledgeable about wine in general and deservedly proud of the wines of his country. He is an excellent guide and I would recommend his evening tour. His cozy wine shop Sip'n Bite (which was one of the tour stops) is certainly worth visiting.
Dear 632franks, Thank you so much for your kind words and wonderful review! It was a real pleasure sharing the evening and Bulgaria’s wine culture with you and your friend. I’m very happy you enjoyed the tour and appreciated learning about our wines—it means a lot to share something I’m truly passionate about. Thank you as well for your lovely mention of Sip'n Bite. I’m glad you enjoyed the atmosphere, and you’re always welcome back for another glass and more wine stories. Cheers! 🍷
Even though I was the only person who happened to make a booking, Pavlin still proceeded with the tour and gave me a one-on-one experience of Bulgarian wines. We visited two wine bars/restaurants and tried a total of five Bulgarian wines. Pavlin is extremely knowledgeable about Bulgarian wine (different varieties, techniques of production, the differences in taste according to region/climate, etc.) and provided a thorough explanation of each wine. He also has an excellent knowledge of wines globally, having studied in Ireland. In addition, I had interesting conversations with him throughout the night about non-wine topics, and he was very engaging and accommodating. Overall, and excellent experience and would highly recommend for anyone who has an interest in getting to know a little more about Bulgarian wines.
Thank you very much for your wonderful review! It was truly a pleasure hosting you on the Sofia Wine Walk. Even though it turned to be a private tour, I am very glad we could still go ahead and enjoy a relaxed evening exploring Bulgarian wines together. Thank you again for joining the tour and for your kind words!
My daughter and I had the most wonderful evening walking through Sophia, learning about the history, culture, and wines of Bulgaria. Pavlin is exceedingly knowledgeable and personable, and by the end of the evening we felt like we were with an old friend. As someone who enjoys wine a lot, but isn't very educated on tastings or the industry, I learned so much about both as Pavlin was helpful and instructive about each wine, its region, and the history of wine in Bulgaria. This excursion was the highlight of our trip and I couldn't recommend it more.
Dear Meredith, Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! I am really happy that you enjoyed the Sofia Wine Walk and that the experience helped you learn more about Bulgarian wines, the regions they come from, and the traditions behind them. Thank you for joining the tour and for taking the time to share your experience. If you ever return to Sofia, it would be great to welcome you again for another wine walk! Cheers, Pavlin
Had a great experience tasting many types of wine. The guide was very know6a d you can see his passion. Not too much walking between wine bars with some nice historic stops along the way.
Dear JustinL164, Many thanks for taking the time to leave such a nice review! Lovely to hear that you enjoyed your time at Sofia Wine Walk !
Pavlin is a gem. It is rare to have a wine tour guide that is from the industry and a WSET level 4. As a result, his knowledge of wines from not only Bulgaria but all over the world is first rate. All three stops were fabulous as were all the Bulgarian wines we sampled. Unknowingly two hours became a lovely four as we savored our wines, bites and stories from Pavlin. I have done wine tours all over the world, and this was the best because it was done by a professional teaching us about Bulgarian wine and its deep history versus a “guide” walking you around to just drink wine.
Dear Andrea E, It was great experience and a pleasure for me to have on a tour person like you with so much wine and fine dining experience! Your kind review and opinion about Sofia Wine Walk really matters!
We recently joined the Sofia Wine Walk for the second time and must say, it again exceeded expectations. The experience was not only about tasting excellent Bulgarian wines, but also about discovering the stories behind them — and much of that magic came from our guide, Pavlin. Pavlin is clearly passionate about Bulgarian wine. He is the heart of the experience. He’s not only a certified wine expert (WSET Level 4, no less), but also a great storyteller. He has a way of presenting wine that’s both approachable and rich with context — from grape variety and terroir to history, traditions, and a touch of humor. You feel like you're learning, but without any hint of snobbery. The tour took us through three cozy spots in central Sofia — each offering a carefully selected wine, paired with little bites and insightful commentary. Pavlin shared background on each wine, the grape varieties (some of them uniquely Bulgarian), and the regions they came from, weaving in bits of history, culture, and even personal anecdotes. On every spot we were welcomed as long-awaited guests, which showed us how special Pavlin is to the local wine community. For anyone visiting Sofia or even locals like me and my husband who want to explore Bulgarian wines more deeply, this is time very well spent. We highly recommend the Sofia Wine Walk tasting experience, especially if you’ve already done a traditional tasting and are looking for something with more character and a personal touch.
Dear annabU7355MT, Many thanks for your wonderful review! I am glad to hear that even your second Sofia Wine Walk exceeded your expectations! You are very welcome to join any time again!
It wasn’t just a wine tour, but an emotional experience. We didn’t just taste wines, but also learned a whole lot of interesting facts about wine and wine cellars. Pavlin creates friendly and relaxing atmosphere. He is well versed in a broad range of topics, which makes him an exceptional interlocutor. We highly recommend Pavlin and the wine walk operated by him as it is a memorable experience for any wine lovers.
Dear Kristiyan A, It is great to here such a wonderful feedback! Thank you very much for leaving an amazing review!
We did the tour on a cold Friday night in February and enjoyed every moment. It was a great way to learn about Sofia. Pavlin shared interesting facts about Sofia and Bulgaria all while sharing information about the different wine regions of Bulgaria. We went to 2 quaint wine bars and finished at a lovely restaurant. I highly recommend this tour.
Dear DanielleC1974, It is great to hear that even the cold weather didn't stop you to have a good time. Many thanks for taking the time to leave a kind review!
I really enjoyed my Sofia Wine Walk tour! We visited two nice wine bars in the city center and finished at a great Italian restaurant. Our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable about Bulgarian wines. He chose excellent wines for us to taste from small Bulgarian wineries. The tour was informative and fun - we learned a lot about local wines while enjoying the city. We were extremely satisfied with the experience! If you want to discover Bulgarian wines and try something different, I highly recommend Sofia Wine Walk.

If you love wine and enjoy exploring charming wine bars, this experience is a must! The sommelier was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also passionate about Bulgarian wines, sharing fascinating insights into their history and production. The walk took us through some of the best wine spots in town, each offering a unique atmosphere and an impressive selection of local wines. It was a perfect mix of education and indulgence, with plenty of opportunities to savor exceptional wines and appreciate the depth of Bulgaria’s wine culture. Highly recommend this for wine enthusiasts or anyone looking to discover a new side of Bulgaria while sipping on some truly outstanding vintages.
Dear sonalp861, Lovely to have your wonderful feedback. I appreciate your review and the fact that the tour was "an indulgence " for you.
