Wonderful tour and wine tasting!

Experiencd driver and very nice ride from Sofia. Tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Plovdiv is a must visit for anyone goong to Bulgaria. The architecture in old town has Bulgarian revival, medieval, to Roman ruins. Beautiful pedestrian area. Tour guide managed time well. Winery and tasting room was very modern and nice. Wines were excellent.

Lovely day

Niki was right on time and we were the only ones in the ‘group’ so had a private tour. The tour of Plovdiv was nice, but there was no lunch included like promised in the description. Niki seemed a bit shy, he knew a lot about the city but it didn’t always really come across. The wine tasting was nice, the girl (forgot her name) had a lot of knowledge about wine, her English was very nice and she joked with us. The wines were delicious, too bad we couldn’t take them home because we only have hand luggage. We had a lovely day and even though I think Plovdiv could easily be visited on your own, the wine tasting was a really nice extra.

Perfect day

Our two guides: Victoria and niki, were wonderful, full of interesting information about Sofia and Bulgaria. We enjoyed a relaxed trip with them, visiting lovely Plovdiv. After that, we got an interesting explanation about a winery called Villa Justina. At the winery we had a very good meal accompanied by suitable wines and we are back happy at evening to Sofia.

A fabulous day in Bulgaria!

This was a great experience. Our tour guide picked us up on time, was very friendly and customer service oriented. She gave us a run down of what to expect. She was very knowledgeable and encouraged questions. The experience itself was outstanding. We enjoyed visiting Plovdiv and the wine tasting was incredible. I highly recommend this experience!

Wonderful City and Delicious Wine; Subpar Tour

I emailed the day before to confirm time and pick up location as there was no communication from the company leading up to the day of the tour. I was told we would be picked up at 0800. After waking up early and waiting for 15 minutes, we called to find it was a “technical mistake.” Actual pick up time was 0900. We were told, "No problem, maximum of 20 minutes for the driver to arrive." 20 minutes came and went...no driver. The tour guide was extremely sweet and friendly, but fell asleep on the way to Plovdiv. Once the tour began, we realized our tour was combined with another two people that did not book the wine tasting portion of the tour. It is unclear if they ever paid for this or freeloaded. Our tour guide had some knowledge of Plovdiv, but it seemed superficial at best. The wine tasting was nice. However, the tour guide and person giving the tour from the winery lacked basic wine knowledge. The winery guide also spoke no English, so the information was translated, which made it difficult. Plovdiv is an amazing city, and one you can probably do on your own. The tour is not worth the price.

An Excellent Day Out

We had a great day out visiting Plovdiv and it’s ancient buildings, the highlight was the Roman amphitheater. Our tour guide was very helpful and knowledgable! The wine tasting in Thracia valley was also a great experience. Delicious wines!

Much more fun than Sofia!

Nice route to Val Plovdid. We had a personal guide, there were no other tourists who came along. Guide was super nice and told a lot about the past and the periods the country and city has endured. The guide also managed to answer all our questions and tailored the tour to our wishes. This town is much more interesting than Sofia. This is not only because of the nicer and larger shopping streets, but mainly because it is a town with much more culture and heritage which is well preserved. The amphitheatre is certainly the highlight! The wine tasting is fun but not special. It is a pity that the woman of the company speaks poor English. Fortunately, our guide clarified what she meant. All in all a nice day excursion that is definitely worth it.

Latschezar Raymond Gudev of Group P...

Latschezar Raymond Gudev of Group P Tours was excellent. He is well informed, well read and knows the history of Plovdiv, Thracia Valley, and Bulgaria. He is a natural teacher and I was a willing student. Awe inspiring views even with all the snow. We stopped for lunch at a local restaurant and had the best tasting hearty soup I've had in a long time. The wine tasting was a surprise to me. I didn't know Bulgaria produced such fine wines. Thoroughly enjoyed myself and have already referred people. Definitely worth the time and price.
