Photos too expensive

Very nice place, we are satisfied with the activities and food and service! HOWEVER ! We really wanted a picture of our children with dolphins, The pictures after you swim with the dolphins is crazy expensive! For 1 DIGITAL picture = 40$US For a family of 4= 220$ US The entrance to the place for the full package for 200$ for the whole family :P so how is it logical that the pictures are as expensive as the entrance to an entire parc !! Makes Zero sense !! Almost No one bought pictures I hope the place reads the peoples complains and readjusts its pricing to something reasonable !

0/10 DO NOT BUY

DO NOT BUY THIS!!!! we got NOTHING that we paid for. it says you get a welcome drink as well as snorkeling gear to go out into the water off the beach with. well, we get there and they refuse us access saying we have to pay the marine park fee on top of what we’ve already paid for. we told them we weren’t going into the marine park just the beach side to be on the beach and in the water with the snorkeling gear we purchased and with our admission we purchased because we are on a cruise and have little time. they kept fighting us and fighting us saying we had to pay more for a marine park we WERENT GOING TO. mind you my grandmother had been just a couple months before and they didn’t make her pay for the marine park. once we were finally able to get in after my grandmother embarrassingly threw a fit. they still wouldn’t give us the snorkel gear THAT SAYS ON OUR PURCHASE ITS INCLUDED. so my husband ended up just paying for it anyway as well as paying for overpriced nachos. they come back at the end of our trip with the bill and tells us our US Dollar total vs what it is in their currency which is what he’s charging and he overcharged us. so all in all it was a crap show just to spend a few good hours with our two year old on the beach.

Family day trip from cruise port (two adults and children ages 12 & 16)

Overall an easy to reach location. We cruised into the port and took a cab to Chankanaab. We did the snorkel experience. When booking with Viator, it was simple, seamless, and less than half the price for the same excursion with the cruise line. Once the taxi dropped us off we headed to the entrance gate where they “radioed” our “guide” who would take us to the area for snorkeling. It’s accessible by walking (maybe there is a handicap accessible way I’m unsure). I’d say less than 10 minute walk where you end up at some booths to retrieve the snorkel equipment, or you can use your own. Also provide you a locker but we felt safe with our items in our bags. I’m not a big snorkeler but it should be known that the area they have you get in to snorkel is very deep. There is not many places to “rest” once in the water and it’s tiring when you’re in the water. However, the water and wildlife was phenomenal. For shallow wading/swimming there is two other smaller “beach” areas that you can just walk in and it’s only about 4 feet deep. We did not do any of the animal encounters/shows. Plenty of vendors of that’s what you are wanting. The wait staff that walked around getting drink orders was very ambitious. Wanted to help or explain something every other moment when we really wanted to get settled first. My family just ordered drinks and my son asked about what a menu item was. Next thing you know we are getting drinks and whatever that food item was. If I didn’t say anything we would have been coerced into paying for a item we did not order. Food was expensive, and we did not eat so I do not have a review for that. Easy to get a taxi to return to the port when we wanted. Overall we would return, and use Viator.

A good place to visit. There is something for everyone.

Very nice experience. I'm a certified diver so I have some bias. We snorkeled. We had our own equipment but booked via a private company. They were efficient and courteous. It is a very nice park. While it is a National Park, there are a myriad of vendors in the park so trying to navigate the website is challenging. Just pick your price point and what you want to do and book it. We were met at the gate and escorted to the appropriate business that we booked with. Very efficient. I would do it again.

Not worth the money

If you want to snorkel a beautiful reef Chankanaab is the place. But, if you want bothered constantly by merchants and restaurants it is also the place. We actually left because we couldn’t have any peace. I’m sure there was a lot more to be seen as we didn’t go to the sea lion show or the botanical garden but I don’t feel like it was worth what we paid.

Loved it

We went snorkeling with Filipe and he was awesome. He made sure we knew where all the other amenities and activities were around the park. We got beach chairs and umbrellas and we had a free welcome drink where we could choose from water, soft drink, juice, or beer. Filipe took his time explaining the snorkeling and we had a beautiful experience. The water was crystal clear and we saw a lot of marine life. I would definitely do this again.

Repeated trouble

Second time here. And will not be back. It is a great place to snorkel but other than that they try to get more money from you then you owe and using the exchange rate as an excuse. This is also the second time we have gone and the credit card machine wasn’t taking anyone’s card and they kept trying to run it. We tried for 30 minutes to get our bill paid and their system wasn’t taking the cards. They only had one atm and again it was not working. The place is sketchy and a waste of money.

Nice, but we got ripped off with the exchange rate

THE GOOD THING. The place is small but beautiful, has a small archaeological area and a small lagoon that is beautiful, the ticket includes the short show of the sea lions and a tasting of tequila, plus shady bed all day. For us the price of the ticket is worth it because they give you. We got a waiter who showed us the place and gave us a little explanation in general. THE BAD. We are Mexican and yet the prices of food and drink are in dollars, we pay in pesos, but the waiter fell to surprise that the exchange rate was at 20!! So an extra 480 pesos was paid into our account. I wouldn’t come back just for the fact of being scammed into prices for foreign tourists, when one is Mexican. The other point is that there is no beach, to enter the sea are rocks with stairs. The beds are on sand, but the entrance to the sea is rocks.
