Relaxing... Food was tasty and the band was good. My third time each several years apart and I enjoyed every time
A good boat ride but just a tad overpriced for what it is.
A very straightforward and fine boat ride! The highlight for me was getting to go into the underbelly of the ship and see the boilers and the engine. It was very cool to be able to see the engineering history at work! It was kind of hard to hear the tour guide (there was someone speaking over the announcement system sometimes), so I didn't focus much on them. I mostly enjoyed looking out, which I greatly enjoyed simply because I love being on the water. It felt like a good amount of time for the experience. The food was honestly mid. It's definitely boat food. I wouldn't really recommend it, as it's also time-limited (they usher you into the cafeteria first thing if you have a food ticket) and I would have rather used that time looking out.
It was okay, opted for a longer cruise vs the shorters once available to gain more insight to the area and history. I spent the time out on deck photographing the scenery and not engaged with anything inside. The out and back route with only music on the return was just not anticipated and left us wishing we had just booked a shorter cruise. The guide spent too much time on how the other paddle wheeler we inferior due to different power plants. Also skipped areas that may have been of interest and had long periods of no info. Didn't book the meal, so can't comment, but family used the snack bar and we complemetary of the staff. As with all activities of this type, pre cruise photos and the sale of those images thru-out the cruise and upon departure is a high priority upsell for the operators. Family did opt to purchase, so the upsell worked.
We (Sister & bCausing) had such a wonderful time on the riverboat in New Orleans! It was a beautiful and relaxing experience cruising along the Mississippi River and taking in the city's views from the water. The atmosphere was fantastic, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the entire experience was very enjoyable. It was a great way to relax, have fun, and experience a different side of New Orleans. I would definitely recommend a riverboat cruise to anyone visiting New Orleans. It was a memorable experience, and I would absolutely do it again on another visit! 🚢⚜️❤️
We thoroughly enjoyed this experience & would highly recommend to everyone as a must do!! Was a perfect mix of history, commentary & information with a great jazz music break in between.
Had an enjoyable time! Narrated Scenic views were good aswell! The cocktails from the Texas bar well Crated well! I cant remember her name but she was Asain.
Mose, thank you for taking time to share your time on the Riverboat!
Great experience and a great value. I would skip the buffet, enjoy the scenery, and eat at one of the many restaurants near there before or after. The steamboat organ needs turn be turned down about 5 volumes...
So happy to know you enjoyed your time on our riverboat and that you gave us 5 stars! Just an FYI on the "organ music". The music pre-boarding is a calliope, an organ that was used in the riverboat era to draw people to the arrival (and departure) of the boats. It is unusual and we understand your review.
Taking a cruise on the Steamboat Natchez is a wonderful, highly authentic New Orleans experience. The boat itself is historic and beautiful, and the alligator sausage on board was excellent. However, there is a major catch if you book the jazz cruise: if you choose the "cruise only" option without buying the lunch or dinner buffet, you are not allowed to sit inside the dining room to watch the band play. We bought drinks and wanted to sit down and enjoy the music, but were told we couldn't. You are forced to listen to the band from the outer decks instead. Unless you plan to eat the buffet, it makes little sense to pay extra for the jazz cruise. Go for the history and the views, but save your money on the music tickets if you aren't dining.
Thank you for your comments. The tickets are for the overall experience of cruise, live tour narration, and music. The only "addition" is if you purchase the meal. Although the band usually plays on the outside deck there are times when they are moved indoors.
My wife and I had such a beautiful and memorable experience on the steamboat ride in New Orleans. From the moment we stepped aboard, everything felt special. The atmosphere, the views of the city, the music, and being out on the Mississippi River created the perfect setting for us to slow down and enjoy each other. It was one of those experiences that reminded us how important it is to make time for each other and create new memories together. The entire evening felt relaxing, romantic, and truly authentic to New Orleans. We absolutely loved it and would highly recommend the steamboat experience to anyone visiting New Orleans, especially couples looking to make their trip extra special. It was definitely one of the highlights of our visit! ❤️⚜️
You certainly understood the "assignment" as is often said. Sit back with that special person and treasure evey minute. The riverboat sets the scene for precious time together.
