I really wanted to enjoy this tour because of the reviews and went in with an open mind, but unfortunately, it was very boring and not worth the $80 we spent. I understand that some of the stories may be exaggerated or even made up for the sake of making the tour spooky, but the overall experience just wasn’t entertaining. Our tour guide tried to be funny, but the jokes didn’t really land, and the tour itself felt like a waste of the two hours we spent on it. One thing that really turned me off was that the tour started with the guide telling us that they would be asking for tips at the end. I completely understand that people work hard and rely on tips, but bringing it up right at the beginning felt awkward and immediately affected the experience for me. Maybe we simply got a less-than-great guide, and there may be better tours out there. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I wouldn’t recommend this one. We spent $80 and two hours and left feeling like we could have spent our time and money elsewhere.

Our stories are rooted in documented history, local folklore, and longstanding New Orleans legends rather than simply being made up to create a spooky experience, but we understand that the storytelling style and humor will not resonate with every guest. I am also sorry that the discussion of gratuities at the beginning made you uncomfortable. While tipping tour guides is customary and always optional, we certainly do not want a mention of gratuity to negatively set the tone for the evening. Our guides are accustomed to receiving 5 star reviews for their knowledge and storytelling, so an experience like yours is highly unusual and something we take seriously. A bit underwhelming to be honest. The host was very good but it definitely wasn’t scary and was a bit of a chore listening to very long stories with flat punch lines.

Our tour guide, Spooky Rob, was amazing! He clearly loves the city and knew so much about its history and had some great stories to share with our tour. Every stop was super interesting and we were showed parts of the city I don’t think I would have been able to find on my own. Spooky Rob encouraged asking questions and we always felt safe walking down the streets where he took us. Highly recommend this tour if you want to see a little bit of everything in the city.
