Itinerario
Si hace buen tiempo vamos primero al Monte Rushmore durante 1 hora y media. Hay un video de 14 minutos sobre la talla, el escultor Gutzon Borglum y los trabajadores. El Museo Lincoln Borglum tiene algunas grandes exposiciones sobre Borglum, su familia y sus obras, la montaña y la maquinaria y los trabajadores. El Sendero Presidencial es una caminata gradualmente inclinada que va debajo de las caras en los escombros de roca con grandes lugares para fotos de las caras individuales. Si va más allá, hay un extenuante paseo hasta el Estudio del Escultor (abierto solo en los meses de verano) y luego regrese a la terraza. La Avenida de las Banderas representa los 50 estados y territorios, y sus respectivas fechas de admisión a la Unión. También hay una nueva área de Exploración Juvenil recientemente inaugurada. La gran tienda de regalos tiene muchos artículos. El Carvers' Café y una heladería están disponibles para tomar algo. Al salir paramos para hacer una foto en el perfil lateral de George Washington.
Desde el Monte Rushmore manejamos 30 minutos hasta Crazy Horse Memorial. Permitimos 1 hora y media aquí, o más, si almorzamos en el Restaurante Agua Sonriente. Se trata de una escultura de 3 caras que será la más grande del mundo cuando se complete. Hay un video de 20 minutos sobre la talla y el escultor Korczak Ziolkowski y su familia que están haciendo el trabajo. El Museo Indio de América del Norte tiene artículos de muchas tribus indias diferentes, con el 90% de los artículos donados. La tienda de regalos tiene muchos artículos hechos por nativos a la venta. El taller de Ziolkowski y la casa de madera que construyó, llena de antigüedades, están disponibles para caminar. Hay un Centro Cultural Nativo Americano donde se puede ver a los nativos haciendo artículos a la venta, así como mostrar artículos para ver y tocar. Hay una Puerta de la Naturaleza de latón y una enorme estatua de sementales combatientes.
Después de salir de Crazy Horse conducimos a través de la ciudad de Custer, que es la ciudad más antigua de las Black Hills, y bajamos al Parque Estatal de Custer, donde manejamos la carretera Wildlife Loop Road de 18 millas. En primavera hay alrededor de 1300 búfalos, incluyendo crías recién nacidas en el parque. También hay antílopes, ciervos, perros de la pradera, burros mendigos y paisajes impresionantes. Hacemos una parada cómoda en el área de State Game Lodge en Coolidge Inn Store o Custer State Park Visitor Center, luego regresamos a Rapid City.

What a fabulous company! So helpful, on time. Our tour guide Scott was fantastic. A history buff himself added so much to the details and depth of our trip. Eating at the Blue Bell Lodge was historic and the food great. And seeing the Buffalo up close was quite the experience. Highly recommend this company!

Our tour was much more than what we would have hoped for. Our tour guide Bruce was knowledgeable, professional, and very friendly. We were so excited to have had the chance to see the buffaloes roaming the hills. Every question we had, he answered right away. He even encouraged us to ask him anything that would increase our knowledge of the places we toured. We would recommend this tour to anyone that has never visited these areas.
We had a great tour with Scott. He’s very knowledgeable and a great conversationalist. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse and hearing the history behind these monumental sculptures. The lunch and ride through Custer State Park was amazing as well. I highly recommend this tour.

Our Tour Guide, Scott with Affordable Tours gave us the "Royal Treatment"! He picked us as scheduled in downtown Rapid City in an extremely comfortable and roomy tour van. What's great about going on these private/semi-private tours is the guide is knowledgeable and knows the history about Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse sites. Scott was very good at guiding us to best spots to see and made sure we got to them before the crowds did! He knew the spots to park to get us close, kept the tour moving in a timely manner to the 4 stops we made. And even made sure we had reservations at the Blue Belle Lodge to enjoy a fantastic lunch! When we got to the Wildlife Loop we so fortunate to see so many of the wildlife animals out on the prairie; antelope, 2 herds of bison in different spots, prairie dogs. We even got out to feed the wild donkeys with little biscuits he had especially packed. Overall, an amazing and enjoyable tour to see some of the key sites in the Black Hills! Would do it again!
