This tour should not even be offered on a day when almost all commerce/shops are closed. Our bad for not doing our due diligence to know that going in. We wish our guide would have accepted our offer to reschedule as it was obvious from the start that this tour would be extremely limited. Our guide Jackie did the best with what she could. We did enjoy chatting with her. Ironically our highlight was visiting a record/t-shirt making store while waiting for restaurants to open. The limitations of the day did deliver some unexpected fortune when we stopped for pizza and they did not have pizza. ?!?!? We were flexible and asked Jackie to order a chivito which she did and we all enjoyed. While this tour appear to offer a great experience (according to the reviews) I can assure you as someone that has done many good tours in a dozen countries that this tour on a Sunday should be avoided.
The tour was easy to book. Our guide, Walter contacted us prior to the tour to confirm the meeting place. It can be a bit tricky finding the place downtown. There are not big signs on buildings. Walter was a warm and friendly guide. I would highly recommend him as your tour guide. The food places chosen demonstrated authentic Uruguayan food. The food was amazing. Thank you Walter for a great tour.
This was a wonderful experience. We had an abundance of food and an abundance of historical knowledge. Daniel and his partner were so friendly and helpful. We felt extremely comfortable with both of them.
The tour operator had to cancel as the guide was unwell. Disappointing but these things happen.
This tour was a great intro to Montevideo. It was a good mix of history and food along the way. We got to try many things. Walter was very knowledgeable and also super kind to our children. We had a great time. Thanks, Walter!
Great tour guide, history and food. The walks were very reasonable and we liked the guide, very friendly and safe environment.
This excursion was the perfect way to see Montevideo and enjoy the traditional foods of Uruguay. Walter was very friendly and knowledgeable and gave us the perfect small group tour! He definitely knows all the good places to eat too! Thank you for a fun day!
Walter was very informative and gave us a very nice tour of the old city of Montevideo. The chivitis was excellent and we got some nice sweet treats too.
It was a great sampling of Uruguayan food. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we also got a tour of the city as we went to different food places.
Our guide to explained to us that our cruise port visit happened to fall on a Sunday, which means many of the regular stops are closed. We asked her to do what she could to show us local cuisine, typical of what she’d have on the regular tour. She was able to find us representative Urugyan food and shared some stories of being native to Montevideo. We appreciated Perla’s hospitality!
