Best wine tour ever! Benoit tailored the day around our wine preferences and experience with wines. We visited only two wineries due to the heat, but the touring, tasting, and learning about their histories was fascinating. The time flew! Benoit’s knowledge of the region and his relationship with the wineries made for a truly unique experience. Things to note: The vintage ragtop, open air Range Rover was fun. Bring a bag or backpack to carry wine on the train because you will want to buy some. The train tickets are purchased for you. We took a taxi to the station, but Benoit was on the platform when we arrived and took us inside the station when we left to make sure we knew which train to take. Private means private. Just my friend and I on the tour. This wine tour was a highlight of our trip to Lyon.
This was one of the highlights of our time in France! Exploring the beautiful Burgundy countryside in a vintage Land Rover made the experience feel truly unique from the very beginning. Our guide Elodie was warm, knowledgeable, and passionate about the region, sharing interesting history about the villages, vineyards, and winemaking traditions along the way. We loved visiting the two small family-owned wineries, where we enjoyed excellent tastings in a relaxed, authentic setting. It felt personal rather than commercial, which made it even more memorable. Another great feature of using this company is that they will organize any wine purchases you would like to make, including shipping back to the US. So you can buy what you like, and not have to worry about packing and shipping, or checking in your luggage! The half-day tour was the perfect length and offered a wonderful mix of scenic views, local history, and fantastic wines. If you're looking for a more intimate Burgundy wine experience with a little adventure mixed in, don't hesitate to book this tour. We would absolutely do it again!
We had an amazing morning exploring Burgundy and Elodie was fantastic! She had a stop designed specifically for my boys, as well as juice and snacks. Would highly recommend!!
Thank you so much for your kind message! We are delighted to read that you had such a great morning exploring Burgundy with Elodie. She will be very happy to know that you enjoyed the ride — and especially that the little stop, juice and snacks for the boys hit the mark! It was a real pleasure to welcome your family, and we hope to see you again soon for new adventures on four wheels, in Burgundy, Beaujolais… or even Marrakech :)
We had an amazing experience on our half day wine tour in the Beaujolais region of France. Our driver picked us up from our hotel and provided a smooth ride to and from the experience. Our tour guide, Amélie, was very knowledgeable and fun to be around. She brought us to two different wineries for tastings, as well as a butcher shop to taste traditional French foods. We loved our experience and highly recommend!
Thank you so much for your wonderful message! We are delighted to read that you had a good time in Beaujolais with Amélie. She will be very happy to read that! It was a real pleasure to welcome you, and we hope to see you again soon for new adventures on four wheels, in Beaujolais, Burgundy… or maybe even Morocco!
Our morning with Clemence was very fun. She picked us up at our hotel right on time so we started off on a good note right away. We visited two very different wineries. And Clemence even took the time to find a chateau to visit for some history. We enjoyed practicing French with Clemence so, so much as well. Sophie Cinier was one of the most intelligent, wonderful women I have ever met. We particularly enjoyed our wine tasting with her. I believe we tasted eight different wines and had some charcuterie as well. It was obvious that she and her husband took a lot of pride in their family venture. It really was lovely. Merci pour tous Clemence!
Thank you so much for this beautiful message! We are delighted to read that your morning with Clémence was such a lovely experience, from the wineries to the château stop, and even a little French practice along the way. She will be very happy to know how much you enjoyed her company. Merci beaucoup from Clémence and all of us!
Our morning with Clemence was very fun and informative. In addition to visiting two wineries, we stopped at a chateau for some history. And we enjoyed practicing French with Clemence so, so much. Thank you so much for your lovely message! We are delighted to read that your morning with Clémence was both fun and informative! We are also thrilled that your tasting with Sophie Cinier left such a wonderful impression. Merci beaucoup from Clémence and all of us!
This was a great experience, and we would highly recommend it to anyone who was looking for something unusual to do in the Macon area. We booked via Expedia, and arrangements were slick and efficient. Our 'Insider' guide Benoit (Ben) contacted us 72 hours before the trip via WhatsApp to make arrangements. He took our details and then booked the train tickets from/to Lyon - all included in the price. Ben met us at Macon rail station in the vintage Land rover, and first drove us to a boulangerie where we were treated to coffee and pastries. After that, we visited three wine producers for tastings. In total we tasted 12 wines, and we stopped at the second one for a lunch of bread, cheese and charcuterie (also included in the price). We were really lucky with the weather, and it was a real pleasure to be sitting in the garden tasting wine and eating. After our third stop we returned to Macon and spent a few hours wandering around the city before returning to Lyon. Our guide, Ben, was really excellent company - such a nice guy. He had great knowledge, and his company was brilliant. It is a private tour, but it was like being taken around by an old friend. It was my birthday, and after lunch Ben produced a lovely cream-stuffed choux bun, sporting a lit candle. Really thoughtful and hugely appreciated. The people we met along the way were equally charming. Ben also took photos throughout our tour and sent us the link when we returned. The area is stunningly beautiful. The Land Rover was certainly 'vintage'. It was clearly a challenge to drive, but that added to the charm. Once again, this was an excellent tour, and importantly money well spent. We were genuinely sad to say goodbye after just a few hours with Ben. We would do it again without hesitation
Thank you so much for this wonderful message! We are delighted to read that your day with Ben felt so seamless, generous and personal — from the train arrangements to the pastries, wine tastings, lunch, photos and birthday surprise. He will be very touched to know that spending the day with him felt like being shown around by an old friend. It was a real pleasure to welcome you, and we would be thrilled to see you again for another ride in the Mâconnais, Burgundy or Beaujolais. The vintage Land Rover will be ready — charming, stubborn, and part of the adventure!
Amélie gave us a fantastic tour where we got to meet real wine makers in the region of Beaujoleis and southern Burgandy. With incredible views of the French countryside, it was a good look into the wine making process and life of a winemaker.
Thank you Efren, Amelie says you guys were super nice! Safe travels and let us know if/when you're back in the area, we'll be ready for more exploring!
We had such a lovely morning! Melanie was super friendly and all three stops on the tour were fun and informative. Despite the rain the wineries were beautiful and all the wine we taste was delicious.
Misson: accomplished! Thank you for trusting us with your time and money and thank you for making time to post a review as this means the world to us: it tells we're doing it right and we couldn't be happier. Safe travels and let us know if/when you're back in town, we'll do what we can to get rid of the rain :)
We loved our guide. Knowledgeable. Humorous. Completely immersed in the culture of wine making in Le Maconnais. We loved meeting wine makers in their wineries. We loved driving through the countryside on a gorgeous fall afternoon. A perfect experience.
What a lovely review, thank you so much Daniel! We hope the rest of your stay in France went as well as your time with us and that you'll be back for more at some point :) until then, safe travels!
