My friend and I had an absolute blast with Mark. He brought us to so many cool places and we tried traditional Scottish food (and lots of it). I’m so glad because they were things I would have never tried on my own. Mark kept us laughing the whole time and is a fantastic story teller! We even got to participate in a Pub Quiz! This tour is a MUST! Thank you Mark!
We had a lovely afternoon with Chris and what felt like a very customized tour just for us. We learned a lot about the city as well as the food
Chris provided a wonderful tour. Great history of Edinburgh in addition to the tastings. Highlights included the pub stop where we were lucky to hear some folk music.
We’d already been in Edinburgh for a few days, so our guide assessed what we’ve seen and done and customized our tour to fit in new highlights and stories. We tried everything that was offered, enjoyed it all (even the haggis!) and learned a lot along the way. Chris even took us to spots a bit off the beaten path (showing us how the castle and old city used to get water) and changed the ‘menu’ based upon things we talked about on our tour. I cannot recommend him enough!
Enjoyed our tour and all the tastings. We all highly recommend Chris! Don't be afraid to try the haggis
We did a private tour with Mark, which was wonderful because he catered the meals and venues to be kid-friendly. While we had already tried haggis and Cullen soup the day before, the places Mark took us to eat were far better than the dishes we had tried other places. Not only did he pick out some delicious entrees, snacks, and drinks, he also taught us a lot about Scottish food (how the dishes developed and evolved, as well as about how they got incorporated into Scottish cuisine—like potatoes, different fishes, and oats.) He taught us about Edinburgh as he walked us to different sites of interest. He was patient, funny, and very knowledgeable. He was a big hit with my kids and poured a lot of interesting information into us about Scottish culture. Ask for Mark Jackson when booking!
Mark had good knowledge of foods on tour as well as history of where we passed on walk. Tasty selections
Chris, our guide, was not only informative about foods and the Scotch Whisky he gave us a real Scottish experience.
Mark was truly fantastic. He customized the tour for our group and was mindful of the fact we had children with us. He provided knowledge about Edinburgh and the history of food in Scotland. Mark is a true gem and made the tour great.
Try the botanics near st. james quarter. it´s something special. And in my opinion "the "fudge kitchen" is better than "the fudge house". it´s near by - cross the street. And fish & chips in the city by the castle-church is very tasty.
