Super nice guide (Mouai) who could tell a lot about the food itself, the origin of the restaurants and the ingredients of all the dishes. The transport was good. However, you must provide your own transport to and from the meeting location. What I also liked was the communication from A Chef’s Tour. They respond quickly and carefully. Because of a peanut allergy, they were extra alert and took no chances. It was well thought out. Tip: the last stop at the market could be arranged a bit more: for example a place to sit, fewer dishes but a little more explanation and attention for the desserts and fruit.
It was a really great experience, and we got to try sooo much food! Our tour guide was Aim, she was super knowledgeable, well prepared and everything went very smoothly. She even brought containers of curry spices for us to see and smell. Really educational experience too, not only about the food but the culture and history of northern Thailand and all the cross cultural influence. We left absolutely stuffed with new foods and facts, well worth the time and money.
This was my second tour with A Chef’s Tour and it was just as good as the first. I attended the morning tour and it had a couple different things compared to the evening tour. The Khao Soi was delicious and was my favourite dish.
Had a wonderful time! Moui was a great tour guide so passionate about chaing mai and its food and very knowledgeable about the food history. We tried the best traditional foods that chaing mai had to offer. Everything was delicious! Thank you for such a wonderful time and all the education provided. Walked away with some new food favorites!
Genuinely my favorite part of my 2-week trip. Getting to see local spots that are hidden gems to the point where the restaurant names aren’t on the map. Getting to talk so in-depth about the history, culture, and ingredients of each food. Talking about the owners and their life stories about how they established their restaurants and their histories. Learning about the political history and what it means for that particular’s culture food and influence to be here and why. It was genuinely a surreal, beautiful, intimate, and delicious experience.
Food connects culture through the loving kindness of the guide and the people of the Chiang Mai food scene. We we're the only tourists in virtually every spot where we ate. Couldn't have asked for more!
Fantastic food tour! We visited 4 restaurants and a food market, and tasted at least 20 dishes & snacks. And they were all delicious! Our guide, Muay (I might be misspelling that), was great about explaining not just what we were eating, but the history behind the food. A great way to immerse yourself in the city and the culture. Definitely recommend!
If you want to get off the beaten path, book this unique experience as part of your visit to Chiang Mai! Every stop on this tour introduces you to authentic regional Thai foods using ingredients that you won't find in other parts of the country or world. Our guide (Moui) also provided valuable cultural context to understand the origins for the dishes we enjoyed. From unique cooking techniques, multi-generational restaurant spots and a delightful assortment of dishes, you will find lots to love about this food tour!
It was amazing. The food was authentic and wonderful. Our guide, Moui was knowledgeable and personable. We had a great time!
Great food tour! We got to try a lot of different food and you won’t be left hungry. Our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable about the dishes we tried. Highly recommend this!
