It’s a great place to visit and the tours are pretty interesting but a tad expensive for the backside tour. I thought it would be more up close but it was mostly a golf cart ride through with a few stops for pics. Hard to see the horses zooming by in a golf cart.

The Barn & Backside Tour is a wonderful way to experience the ins and outs of the track behind-the-scenes. This is an excellent experience. The guided tour is well done and can really be helpful to someone without a lot of knowledge about horseracing or Churchill Downs. The Kentucky Derby film in the round is the best thing there! The rest of the museum is full of information that will delight anyone!

Plan on going when the museum opens or shortly after so you can watch the horses being trained 🐎. Plan on staying at least two hours.
Thanks! We agree with the two hours -- typically that gives you enough time to explore both floors of exhibits for one hour, and spend the other hour going on tour and watching our 360° movie. There's also time you may want to add in for the cafe & our KDM Store. It sounds like you got to see some horses training on the track during your visit -- super fun! Thanks again!
