It was a beautiful day....

It was a beautiful day. Pretty rigorous experience IMO with the 4.5-5 mile kayak (round trip) and hike up to the waterfall. Our guide was a little rough- kept saying he didn’t think we could make it (I had only kayaked once or twice prior and was paired with someone with 0 experience so we struggled). It was discouraging, especially since it said no experience was necessary. Overall it was fun. Pretty muddy as others have said. Grabbing a walking stick will help! Tour guides do this barefoot!

From all the emails and...

From all the emails and texts it was not at all clear that we needed to be there 30 minutes before the scheduled time for the tour so when we showed up up on the scheduled time of 10 am we were told the groups has left and we need to rent the kayak and do the trip on our own, which we did and it went ok. It would have been nice to have a guide given the tricky slippery path full of mud

Adventure and Exercise in Paradise

It is a kayak with a hike, so be prepared. It takes some work and effort, but so worth it in the end. It’s not a relaxing adventure so if that is what you are looking for, this one is not for you. Water shoes, snack bag, water… the waterfall is a bit chilly and windy, yet stunning. Sam, our tour guide, made the experience so much fun. He added the touch of local flair that made the adventure that much more special. He was very relatable and knowledgeable about the history, plants and answered any questions the group might have had. He always made sure the group was staying together and would wait if needed. He was a jokester and was really good about including our 9 year old son and 14 year old daughter in the tour, them being the youngest in the group. Good-sized group, felt manageable. It was a fun adventure with some exercise added in. Mahalo, Sam ~ Keep being you!

Beautiful scenery. Was a fair amount of work. The trail was pretty muddy but the waterfall was so worth it.

Beautiful and exotic , but not a good option for everyone.

First off, I want to emphasize and acknowledge how amazing our guide, Kai was during this excursion. His knowledge, humor, ability to answer specific questions, and overall attitude and service were top scale. He made the trip fun. That said… You HAVE to know what you’re getting into here. This is not your ordinary hike. After you kayak a couple of miles, you’ll end up climbing over-sized rocks, muddy and slippery paths, and just very challenging terrain. You will have to cross a small river bank that is NOT easy to navigate with a rocky bottom you can’t see. Once you arrive to the waterfall it is as beautiful as you can imagine, however be aware that the pool is also very rocky below. THEN, you have to do it all over again on the way back (plus the 2 mile kayak again). It’s scenic and definitely a hidden treasure, but I wouldn’t do it again. We spent more time trying to make sure we didn’t fall or get hurt somehow, than actually enjoying the tour. By days end you are EXHAUSTED. Again, our guide Kai made this journey bearable. He showed us real natural awapuhi to wash our hands, citronella plants, and a cute native bird along the path that comes and eats worms out of your hands on his command. So cool. A BIG thanks to him for all his work.

Wailua Valley

Best experience ever. I enjoyed the lesson and the scenery. The shy plant. Pictures and the water fall and the goddess bath.

Great experience all around!

Easy, organized transport - friendly, knowledgable guide. Great way to get out on the river and into the rainforest! Be prepared to get muddy and wet. Great experience all around!

EXTREMELY DANGEROUS

This is NOT a simple hike ---and only a partial trail---extremely dangerous--basically a treacherous hike to the waterfall. Yes, not jusy muddy...bit VERY rocky and slippery rock trail. Walking through the river was like walking on wet ice. EXREMELY DANGEROUS.

Kman was the best they could offer.

KMan is an amazing Tour guide. He was very informative about the history and was very personable. He went over and beyond in every area and was very attentive and took special care to someone in our party who had injured themselves. Thank you KMan, I am so happy we crossed paths with you and I hope we get to cross paths again in the near future. God bless you.
