Kauai : Recorrido en barco por NaPali en el Amelia K

I wish we were better informed of the type of boat. I was expecting the usual indoor cabin/outside viewing like previous snorkeling trips. The cramped seating and unable to move about was not pleasant. And the motion of the boat caused multiple people sea sickness. Of the 5 hours, the one-hour tour of the NaPali coast was the only enjoyable part. I was glad when the tour was over. But the crew were great. They socialized with everyone and were very helpful to everyone's needs.

Due to a Coast Guard boat inspection, we ended up on the Na Poli Kai boat, which is extremely similar to the Amelia K. When this change became necessary, Makana Charters reached out and quickly got us set up with the new tour boat. The crew and staff were unbeatable in my opinion. They were fun but always serious about our safety. A few people got a little sick on our tour, despite relatively calm seas. My nineteen-year-old daughter was one of the ones who got sick, which we kind of anticipated. The staff was excellent about handling this. They made sure not to embarrass any of those who didn't feel well, and they offered advice about how to feel better that actually helped. They checked in with my daughter while not annoying her. They were fantastic. While there is only so much the crew can control, they helped us to see dolphins and sea turtles on our way up the coast. The spot we stopped for snorkeling allowed us to see a plethora of fish and a sea turtle. The staff had tons of information about the coast, Hawaii, and the history of the land and people. Plus, the coast was absolutely stunning. It is something people should experience one way or another while staying in Kauai. We did not do any other tours on our eleven-day trip to Hawaii, opting to explore the islands on our own. [This was our once-in-a-lifetime trip to Hawaii from Pennsylvania.] These kinds of tours are not really my preference, but this one is one I would recommend to all friends and family.

Our tour with Makana Charters and Tours was hands down one of the best experiences of our trip to Kauai. Every moment was incredible, from the stunning views of the Nā Pali Coast to the amazing marine life and hidden gems we got to experience. We were fortunate enough to see both bottlenose and spinner dolphins, sea turtles, cascading waterfalls, and explore breathtaking sea caves. The scenery was absolutely spectacular and something we'll never forget. What truly made the experience exceptional was our outstanding crew—Lionel, Captain Mike, and Tony. They were friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and made everyone feel safe and welcome from start to finish. Their passion for Kauai and the ocean was contagious, and they shared interesting stories and information throughout the tour while making sure everyone had an amazing time. If you're considering a Nā Pali Coast tour, don't hesitate to book with Makana Charters and Tours. The incredible scenery, abundant wildlife, and exceptional crew made this an unforgettable adventure. Mahalo to Lionel, Captain Mike, and Tony for giving us memories that will last a lifetime. The Amelia K tour was amazing. The views were fabulous and the crew stopped for us to see the wild life. The crew was great.

Great group of guys running this! The scenery was INSANE! We had a member get INSANELY seasick even though she took a bunch of meds. And they took GREAT care of her! Great trip! But if you can’t do the sea it is NOT for you!

We were hoping this would be the highlight of our trip and it was. The crew and Amelia K was awesome. Waves were a rockin....but the crew checked in on us constantly. We chose not to snorkel but that did not detract from the excursion. Can't say enough good things about the crew that made this memorable. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience! Only thing that could be better is if the departure point were further West on the island in order to spend more time along the North coast instead of having to go around from the South

Our experience with Makana Charters was seamless from beginning until the end! Booking and check in process was organized and efficient. Captain Mike and his crew Jay and Jas made the experience! Such an incredible experience. Our first time on the NaPali coast and I can't imagine a more positive experience. We really enjoyed the captain and crew. The boat is beautiful and was perfect for viewing the coast and sea life. Our entire family from 9 to 79 enjoyed this experience.

Our excursion on the Amelia K was probably the best one we’ve ever taken. This was our 5th trip to the NaPali Coast. The past excursions were on Zodiak’s with great companies Blue Dolphin, Captain Jack’s and Makena Tours far exceeded our expectations for sure! I can’t recommend them enough and I’ll definitely book with them again!
