I gladly give my highest recommendation to Rita! She's friend, knowledgable and flexible. She offered by far the best of the four day tours we took in the Azores (and two of the others were also very good). Her English is excellent. My wife's and my full-day tour of Pico with her featured a lot of fun, a lot of learning and some good conversations. Among other things, we learned a lot about both Pico's and the Azores' history, culture and geography, including volcanism and whaling. Along with some stunning scenic stops along the way and some other interesting aspects, our trip also included an illuminating stop at a fascinating whaling museum and a delicious sushi lunch. Rita was great and prompt in communicating and planning beforehand, including offering lunch and timing options. When we had to adjust our schedule slightly beforehand, she was very flexible in accomodating us. And given that the center of the island was fogged in for most of the day, she was great in adjusting our trip so that we concentrated mainly. along the coast - where there was more than enough to do or so. (Our group tour on another island made no such accomodation.) In sum, we learned a lot with Rita and it was a pleasure doing so. I'm confident that your experience with her would be the same.

I highly recommend Rita as a guide for your visit to Pico. I took the half-day private tour due to time constraints and was shown quite a bit in that period of time. She's very knowledgeable, friendly and engaging and made the experience a memorable one. She really seems to enjoy what she does and is proud of where she lives, which makes it more authentic than those guides that seem like they're reading off cue cards. Highly recommend.

If you want to get to know the Pico Island in an intimate, relaxed and adapted to your pace I recommend this Tour. Rita was an excellent guide and her love for Pico is reflected in how she tells us the history of the island. Every stop has a meaning and Rita has a lot of knowledge to share. Simply excellent! We loved the tour, we loved to meet Rita and we gave in to the beauty of Pico Island and the kindness of the Picarotos! I thank Rita very much for, even being on a Sunday and having a less pleasant climate, she adapted the tour in the best way possible and provided an incredible experience!
